Drivers side arm rest

is really pretty torn up, though the rest of the car is in great shape. It looks like it is an integral part of the whole door panel. Is this true? What are my options for fixing it?

Re: The first diesel Astro conversion??.

is a Hino 3.4L going to have enough power? Are they very fuel efficient engines? What about vibration?

Questions, questions, questions!

BTW, I have seen more TLC's with 289's than I have with the original I6

Re: CB Radio mounting location

the gumdrop will simply let you put the cable through the roof. It will still be an antennea mounted on the roof with a magnet. I haven't done the CB thing in a long while but way back when, the magnet mounted antannae's were not as good as the ones that were designed to be mounted on the vehicle pe...

Is there a "performance" air filter that will give the engine a little extra umph?

swivel seats up front?

Is it possible to install captain style bucket seats up front that will swivel? so that the two people in the front can spin the seat around so that they are facing the 3 in the middle seat - to make talking or eating together easier?

Re: Keeping "Jane" a little warmer in the winter and cooler....

Windows are nasty - there is no way around them. What I am thinking about now is something to make my fanny more comfortable (temperature) when it is sleeping on a mattress in the rear area :) I guess for the floor I could install some rubber pads - the kind you see in kids rooms that interlock? tha...

Re: Installing a center ceiling console

Thanks! Yeah, that's what I heard too :) Have no fear...i am still into cheap. Parts at the local U-pull it are really cheap. I think the console is about $5. Were there different kinds of consoles available or are they all about the same? Does it matter if the van is the shorter version of the earl...

Re: What connectors does the stock am/fm radio have?

Thanks...some good ideas. Maybe I will install a new one and make a door to cover the new stereo...I will cut off the front of the old stereo to make the new door \:D/

or find some more reasonable idea :)

Keeping "Jane" a little warmer in the winter and cooler....

and cooler in the summer. Would it be simple to add some kind of insulation? I have heard of some insulation that is pretty thin - maybe 1/2" - but adds a significant r value.

Is it easier to take off the interior panels? Are there pockets to stuff insulation in?

Re: CB Radio mounting location

If you want to give it a try, you can try using industrial strength velcro to mount the cb unit. If you don't like the way it works all you have to do is remove the piece of velcro glued to the vehicle and stick it somewhere else. Actually some kinds of velcro are strong enough to be used as a perma...

What connectors does the stock am/fm radio have?

I want to make some improvements to my van but I don't want to change the plain jane appearance. I think one of the best deterrents to theft is to make something look like it is not worth stealing :) What kind of cables are there coming off of the stock am/fm radio :peep: ? I would like to install s...

Installing a center ceiling console

My van does not have a roof mounted console like this:

viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3549 (see the second post for the picture).

Is it easy to install one of these?

Transmission cooler on a van with 200K miles?

Would it be worthwhile to put a transmission cooler on a van with 200K miles? I think it is the original tranny. It is shifting smoothly. I just had the fluid changed and the fluid looked "appropriately dirty". I don't do a lot of driving right now - about 150 miles a week, most of which i...

Astro a mini-van?

I parked my astro behind a Chevy g20 today. It seems that the G20 is 4-5 inches taller than the Astro, maybe an inch or 2 wider and maybe 5-6" longer. Why do they call the Astro a mini-van? Practically speaking, what is the difference between a G20 and an Astro? besides the few extra inches of ...
