Re: Why does the sprinter get better mpg?
http://osdir.com/ml/culture.cars.volkswagen.diesel/2002-12/msg00043.html This link talks about 26 mpg in city driving....now...dimensions! dimensions! We want dimensions! Hmmmmmm I bet a used sprinter would make a nice mini-motor home......trouble is, when I am traveling long distance I often pop in...

Re: Why does the sprinter get better mpg?
Thanks! I am starting to drool....please post the dimensions! I think the higher mpgs for the diesel was for the 5 banger 2.7 I found mid 20's on all of the pages I checked. Of course, there was no comment on the performance. Also, no indication of whether it was a raised roof, etc.

Re: Computer is blinking while used with an inverter in my van :
Thanks! The inverter is only a couple of months old, so I will rule out the old part of the equation. The laptop only needs 60 watts and the average for the inverter is 100, with a 150 being a peak. The blinking is cyclical, at once per second, so I think the sine wave thing is the issue. I had neve...

Why does the sprinter get better mpg?
Even the model with the gas engine I saw gets 25 mpg or more. The diesel will get more than 30. The stro and the sprinter do not seem very different aerodynamically, although the sprinter is taller - I think they are about the same width. They are about the same weight. Has anyone put a 5 cylinder 2...

Computer is blinking while used with an inverter in my van :
I am sitting in my van at this very minute using my wireless internet connection. It is really awesome! but I am having a problem with the inverter. The inverter seems to be switching on and off about once a second, which causes my notebooks screen to go from bright to dim (plugged in settings vs. b...

How much juice can I get from the dc outlets in the stro?
With the engine idling and the air on, if I connect my desktop pc and lcd panel (about 400 watts) to a dc inverter, and also have a tv/vcr going (I think about 100 watts) - on another inverter will the stro put out enough continual electricity so that the battery is not drained - with the engine idl...

Re: Will this engine fit into our Astro's?
Yes, I thought I had heard of it being put into passenger cars. I think they discontinued it because by using smaller V6's with multiple valves and other "doo-dads" they found they could get more horsepower, reduce the weight of the engine (and hence the car and reducing the needs of the s...

1988-90 vs. 1996
What are the practical differences between a 88-90 stretch awd Astro and a 96 awd astro? Ok, Ok, before every gets out their calculator, I know it is 6-8 years =D> I am talking about more practical things like torque, fuel efficiency, cost and availability of parts, interior room, etc. I am guessing...

Will this engine fit into our Astro's?
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=4246 It is also a 4.3L - i think the block is identical. What caught my eye is that it has 24 valves vs. 12 in ours ....I can almost smell the tires burning if we popped a set of these valves on our blocks (maybe opened up the exhaust just a wee...

Re: What kind of electrical problem would fry a fuel pump?
Thanks! That is good advice and undoubtably true, especially since they put ethanol in the gas here in Oregon. But from the ad it seems to me that the pumps are going quickly because of a problem with the electrical system - i have sent an email asking for clarification about this. Any ideas? I hate...

What kind of electrical problem would fry a fuel pump?
I am starting to look for an awd astro. I found an ad for a vehicle that has a clean interior, straight body and good engine/tranny (I am just quoting the ad) but has an electrical problem that eats fuel pumps. What kind of problem could this be? I want an awd van so badly I can almost taste it :) I...
