Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Installed new left front wheel speed sensor. Used Genuine GM part this time, not eBay crap, and did the field output check - easy to get 350 mV AC. ABS now works again. Dissected original sensor, broken conductor near connector end.

Re: Trailer wiring melted!

I just wired the seven conductor jack on my 2003 AWD Astro. It has the tow package. I wired the turn & running lights through a flat four, inside the jack box, so I can disconnect them when not in use. Just before I cut the wires to length, I checked the 12V (orange) wire - it was hot!!! I unplu...

Re: ABS Sensors

The right front sensor was intermittent electrically. The resistance bounced around when I wiggled the cable. Your point about the front hubs is well taken. I am considering a full brake job (78000 miles) and wondered about replacing the hubs at the same time.

ABS Sensors

After putting up with a C0223 code for a while (intermittent right front wheel speed sensor) I cleaned the sensor head mounting boss like the service bulletin said, on left & right sides. Did not help. Picked up a pair of front wheel speed sensors on eBay, installed them, no codes set, but the A...

Re: Transmission Cooler

Thanks to my friend's generosity, and his heated garage and lift, the TruCool went in last Saturday, in series with, and after, the stock loop-in-the-radiator. We pulled the bumper bar, and used straight straps top-to-bottom. The hose routing is snug with the air intake snorkel, but it's not too bad...

Re: Transmission Cooler

For my AWD 2003 Astro, I think I will go with a Tru-Cool LPD4590 kit. I have a ScanGaugeII, which gets the trans temp from the OBDII serial data. Seems to work fine, but I don't know where in the fluid stream the temperature is measured. Without a trailer load, the temperature reads 175F when warmed...

2003 AWD Passenger Astro, my Third

Good to find an active group of like-minded eccentrics who appreciate the M/L vans! I have had a 1992 RWD Astro, which I traded in for a 1994 AWD to better navigate Michigan winter roads. Traded the 1994 in a couple of years later when I got a company car. Now that I am retired, I picked up a 2003 A...
