Re: '97 GMC Safari AWD BackCountryVans maiden voyage

^^ You guys must be thinkin' of someone else...I don't recall having any issues with any one or any site
...just doing other stuff since getting my lift done.

The van is doing great! Very happy with the way I did the rear lift.
Too labour intensive to market tho...

Re: No spare tire on my dutch doors, what about fuel cans?

Just gonna throw this out there...how about a rack that is attached to the upper hatch. Re-spec the struts for the new weight and you would have an overhead swingaway that'll lift with a single finger... :-k

I hear ya loud and clear Tee...in private or online with anonymity, people can and will rave and praise vans...but publicly shy away back into the shadows fearing their peers. Vans are for Soccer Moms or kidnapping pedophiles don't ya know!!!

Woosies.

Re: A major 383 decision

The GV(gear vendor) is after the tranny...it doesn't care what gear you're in...it just splits it as you desire.

Re: Chevy Geo Storm??.

Back when those cars were around...they were considered disposable. Like the Cavalier after it etc.....once cars like them need a major repair, they tend to get junked.

Re: Safe Following Distance???

Another good one I've been seeing way too much of lately....You're driving along in the inside lane and someone pulls out and would be clearly cutting you off but they go straight for the left lane thinking that's ok.

Re: Chalk Test Anyone ???

I've never used chalk on my van tires....but if you look closely at the dust/grit on your tires, it's usually easy to see if you're running overinflated, which you may or may not desire. Currently running 235 Goodyear DuraTracs and 41psi unloaded leaves about half of the outer tread block untouched ...

Re: A major 383 decision

The ROI(Return On Investment) is definitely a factor with propane conversions....which is too bad, cuz it's a great fuel...especially if you build a high compression engine for it...

Re: Quick work trip today...some scenery shots

oh yeah...SO MANY spots to explore along this hwy.

I hear there's a small-tire worthy trail from the bottom(south) up to the summit that can take 2nights/3days at a casual pace....that'd be a cool trip :partyman:

Re: A major 383 decision

How about building a 355 for max fuel efficiency and gear up the rear end a bit to maximize torque(3:73???)...then just realize that your top cruising speed will be reduced when keeping it at 1800-2000rpm on the hwy
