When replacing the Crankshaft or Camshaft position sensors do you need to do a RE-LEARN procedure? There are some youtube videos that say so on other vehicles but don't spell it out for ours. What do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Andy R

Re: Inline Spark Tester question
I did install the inline spark test between the distributer cap and wire going down to the spark plug. It showed a spark at each cap outlet. At least I knew I had spark at each cap outlet.

Re: 2002 Astro Van Broke down on road Won't start
Well, Interesting fix! I had it towed into a repair shop. Trying to fix an indiscriminate misfire I bought a new Distributer from Amazon and installed it. The Astro ran great for about 50 miles or so and then broke down. I never thought it would be the new distributer, BUT it was. The shop put in th...

Re: 2002 Astro Van Broke down on road Won't start
That is not so easy when it is broke down on the side of the road. I checked there is spark at all the terminals at the dist. cap. I doubt ALL spark plugs stopped ALL at once driving down the road. The plugs were changed about a 1000 miles ago so I doubt they are all bad. Is there a chance it is the...

2002 Astro Van Broke down on road Won't start
Hi guys, 2002 Astro broken down on the road, cranks but won't start. I removed dog house. Fuel pressure tested to 55 lbs. Removed cap and rotor, cleaned terminals and re-installed. Have spark to plugs, used an inline spark tester. Sprayed starting fluid into air intake and cranked engine, did not ev...

Inline Spark Tester question
The instructions say to place it on a spark plug. Our astros are very hard to get to the plugs. Just to see if you have spark can you hook it up between the distributer outlets and the plug wire. Also, if you place to between the coil and it's wire will it show if the coil is sparking when you crank...

Re: Standard Motor Product Spider
My distributer bolts in only one position. I know we used to time engines by turning the distributer to a different position. How would I retard the timing on my 2002 astro?
Special thanks for the info,

Re: Standard Motor Product Spider
Eliminated any vacuum leak by smoke test, by propane test, by carb cleaner test. Changed distributer, plugs, wires, PCV valve, and a couple of other things. Xtool Scanner shows various cylinder intermittent misfires after an idle for a few seconds. As soon as any load is put on the engine all misfir...

Standard Motor Product Spider
Hi, I think I have to change out my Spider on my 2002 astro. I can only find ones that are made by STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS. Anybody know if they are any good? AND, do you have a better place to get one? I am only looking for quality, not price.
Thanks in advance,
Andy R

Re: HELP!! # 5 Misfire
I would not know how to use one. The mileage is mostly high speed highway using good gas and Mobile one oil.
Could it be the Spider? Do you recommend changing out the old one with an updated one?

Re: HELP!! # 5 Misfire
I did have a smoke test performed by my shop mechanic. Also, spark is good. No misfire during RPM above 1200.

HELP!! # 5 Misfire
2002 Chev Astrovan 4.3 AWD 109500 miles. Hi Guys, I really need your help! The van runs GREAT when driving along. But, after idling for a couple of minutes it throws a P0305 code that says cylinder 5 is misfiring. If I drive on highway for hours no codes at all. My OBD 2 reader shows misfiring at id...

Re: 100,000 checkup
Thanks for the reply. Everything you mentioned is going to be checked. I guess I wanted to know if any unusual things or large things that should be looked at. I understand that there is a chain in the transfer case, anything should be done with it? Things like that that are not part of usual mainte...
