Spent a big part of the last several days trying to locate a local welder who would take on the job of fabricating a front bumper for me. Apparently "You design it, I'll weld it" means "I'll tack your patio furniture and iron gats back together". Everybody says they're either too...
My subframe cushions are petty old - 21 years. Probably need changing due to age, but how do you know when they are really shot? And, can they be replaced without removing the entire subframe? I thought the same thing. But once I started lifting and pulled them out, mine were in excellent condition...
...Long story short. Differential is shot and they threw me a ballpark estimate of $1800 for everything with a used diff. New rebuilt diff for my 89 three months ago was $1200 installed with warranty from a local chain transmission shop. Used would have been $900 installed with no warranty. I'd say...
...only thing i got to go on is his word (i believe him) but his word is based on the word of the guy that dropped them off... Some guy "dropped them off"? That seems a little odd. Don't parts at a pick-a-part lot usually come OFF of a vehicle? Under what kind of conditions would anyone &...
you could try going to a local spring shop and getting a set made up. Just take in a stock spring and tell them what you are doing and they should be able to fab up a set fairly quickly. I've heard others mention "a local spring shop". I guess I've never heard of a spring specialty place....
I occasionally have a "no blow" heat/AC motor problem. I stumbled upon an incredibly simple little fix. The spade lug connector that plugs onto the fan box (yellow on my 89) was loose. It's happened twice in the past month. I need to replace the little female connector on the wire but for ...
ok.. so nobody has input on this one? so much for the easy way out LOL Since you work in a parts store... Maybe you could measure or discover the measurements for the stock coil ID, OD, etc. Then contact your rep/distro/mfg and ask if they have a similar coil only longer. Or if your store has a lot...
...Tell them it's junk and you want another one.I think you get a free pass not to be nice about it either. Not your problem because you didn't have it before the pump you bought.Threaten them with if the next one fails, they will be paying for a replacement and the labor to have a dealership fix it....
There should be(?) a vacuum line diagram on a sticker in your eng compartment. And sometimes the disconnected line itself will sort of tell you where it should go. If that disconnected line is still connected on the OTHER end, move the open end around to the obvious limits of it's reach and you may ...
I've had some of the same issue with the 4.3 in my Jimmy and after talking to our shop mechanic, he asked if I pushed down on the accelarator any at all while cranking and of course, me being a carb guy, I just can't break that habit. ANyway,,after keeping my foot off the pedal,,it cranks every tim...
...Anyone have words of wisdom for the areas I'll be passing through, suggestions of things not to miss on the way, or want to meet up enroute? Keep an eye out for that escaped convict and his cousin/fiancee.. :axe: I've taken a lot of cross country trips by using US highways instead of interstates...
fortunately, I live a very warm climate, so I just removed the preheat flapper since it was frozen at about half mast anyway. During the summer I remove the preheat hose. In the winter I keep it on. the intake duct work breaths pretty good now. I'm in Phoenix. It's 102 on my back portch as I type t...
