Re: Dead Kitty
...Changed out all 3 02 sensors/ Plugs n wires / Cap-rotor/ IAC valve/ERG valve/ Fuel filter and it still doesnt want to idle right. Im thinking I either need to replace the Cat, or Injector assembly. I went through incredibly similar hair-pulling troubleshooting on my 89, only to find that it seem...

Re: Darn you drivers side half shaft!!!
horse you say.....? that sure would be a new one for me My horse is just getting over having a bad foot for the past year. But before that, and soon again, I'd ride her here and there to run errands. Traffic is a little scary. But we make a pretty big focal point for people to see. http://www.digit...

Re: 99 idles like a Harley
New gas cap for the fuel tank ??? It's amazing to me how badly a worn out gas cap can make modern stuff run... I know that a good way to make Fords run better is to unscrew the gas cap, lift it away from the truck about 16 inches, drive the truck away and then drive a Chevy into the place where the...

Re: Air Cleaner PreHeat Valve Flapper - Adjustable?
OK. I found a way to modify the thing so that it will open at a lower temp. I'm not really interested in blocking it open and violating the law. Plus it actually does get something like cold here in Phoenix in the winter, maybe around 40 degrees. So I might actually want it to do the job it's design...

Re: Air Cleaner PreHeat Valve Flapper - Adjustable?
Take the hose out drive the van all year then when it comes time for smog put the hose back in. Take the test pass then remove the hose so the truck drives properly. The other thing you can do is jam the flap open. The old mechanical diverters fail after a while. Thanks. Suggestions on how to jam t...

Air Cleaner PreHeat Valve Flapper - Adjustable?
I have the flapper thing in the snorkel of the air cleaner housing. You know the thing that diverts the intake air from either the manifold pre-heat hose or from the regular air intake. It is not the style that has a vacuum hose attached. It's the simpler kind with a spring, heat actuated. Is that t...

Re: 95 Safari Pinout diagram?
... Someone please help me find a pinout for the ECU either for the 95 safari or the 95 1/2 ton... I don't know anything about doing the swap, or about injectors generally, but when I was tracking down some pinouts for my 89 ECU, I found Chilton's software based manual at my local public library. Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Replaced a bunch of vacuum and PCV lines. Amazing what the PO had done to rig the thing together. Instead of spending 20 cents on a piece of vacuum hose, there was what looked like aquarium tubing, electrical sleeving and plastic drinking straws all pieced together just in the 12 inches or so from P...
Re: WINALDL
Mild topic hijack/sidetrack: Does anyone know where to buy the MALE ALDL connectors? ie the connector that would go on the end of a homebrew cable that plugs into the female, underdash ALDL connector? I find that alligator clips aren't great at staying connected to the underdash connector. Lumpy You...

Fuel Tank Capacity - How To Tell?
89 Astro, 4.3z... 17 or 27 gallons? I know some here have said they have the 27 gal but it really only accepts about 24. Is there some kind of way to tell by looking at the tank? Mine has accepted 19 gallons. Does that pretty much verify that it's the larger 27 gal tank and not the 17 gal version? T...
