Where is my Cruise Control Module?

89 Astro, 4.3z 700r4. The stickers say mine was built WITH c/control. The turn signal lever has the appropriate switches for c/control. Where is the c/control module on my 89? A photo of the monster would be a groovy thing. It's not this vertical, rectangular thing, next to the the master cyl, is it...

Re: Spray on, Dip on RTV PlastiDip - Very Cool Stuff

Actually, I see a lot of gloves that look like they are made very much like that. Some kind of knitted fabric, then dipped into RTV. I've got a pair like that. Rubberey grip stuff on the palm and fingers, fabric mesh on the back of the hand. I don't think it would be very cost effective to do it you...

Re: Radiator hose inner diameter?

in case anyone cares, I used a 34mm adapter which seemed to snug into the radiator hose very well. I care.. Thanks for finding out the answer. I was just getting ready to post the same question when I ran across yours. Care to describe a bit of how you installed the water temp sensor adapt...

Spray on, Dip on RTV PlastiDip - Very Cool Stuff

I use this stuff everywhere - http://www.digitalcartography.com/n0eq/astro/PlastiDip.jpg Besides the obvious use for dipped tool handles - - Sprayed on my A Pillar plastic covers, steering wheel, dash. Gives me a rubberized, flexible coating. - Dribbled on wire insulation that's getting old and brit...

...I didn't see the neoprene squares at Harbor Freight website... I don't see them in their current website either. But they still had them yesterday at my local HF. Re: Fan blower resistor replacement for Astro Safari 2000

High speed is a relay on the passenger side of the firewall (the larger one). You can purchase it aftermarket, but it won't mount where the old one is. Bite the bullet and purchase a replacement relay from the stealership. I installed the aftermarket style in my 89 using a 1/4 inch nut and bolt. ht...

Re: Distributor Wiring Mystery...

The 'connector to nowhere' is the fuel pump prime terminal. If you power that wire up, the fuel pump will run. Hey! Thanks for that! I've been wondering what that wire was for myself. What a groovy place.. Lumpy - You looked goofy back then too http://digitalcartography.com/camp/CraigPromo...

Re: part swapping

I'm a bit confused...You have a lot of miles so you're thinking of replacing the front subframe? That's not really an assembly that wears out. Has there been some kind of crash damage to the subframe? I just did a 2 inch lift on my 89 with 289,000 miles. Before the lift I was searching for replaceme...

That is a good job. What shocks did you install? 999166 Front 999147 Rear If anyone is considering 9000s in the front, contact me if you like. There's a couple of tricks I had to learn that will make the tight squeeze happen withOUT damaging the shock control lines. Craig 'Lumpy' Lemke www.n0eq.com

Re: Trans fluid and filter change

Great, that sounds annoying. The instructions make it sound like you just reach in and it will come out. I should know better than to think that it would be that easy. I just did both the jobs you're describing, trans filter and pilot shaft seal. For the trans filter o-ring, spend $4 at Harbor frei...

Hey Lumpy, that's a nice clean install on the battery wiring. Good job. Out of curiosity, what's the need for 2/0 gauge wire & circuit breaker? -Andrew Thanks Andrew! The 2/0 cable is simply so that I'll have a big pipe full of 'lectricity.. :muhaha: The circuit breaker separates the stock elec...

Re: Transmission Cooler

I want to install a trans cooler. My existing radiator has a full width A/C cooler in front of the radiator. Are there problems having THREE coolers in a row in the stack? (radiator + A/C + Trans).
