Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Changed my cherry juice filter and output shaft seal. Installed a trans pan drain plug. Suprisingly simple and quick job. Did it in the driveway. Didn't jack anything up. Only specialized tool I used was an angled pick thingie (trans filter o-ring remover). Total cost, $50 including the o-ring remov...

Re: 94 awd safari how hard to replace power steering lines

I don't think my 89 has Hydroboost, whatever that is. But I've replaced both the low and hi pressure lines between pump and steering box. Both were done without removing any fan shrouds, hoses or anything else. Both done in my driveway using normal hand tools. an 18mm flare nut wrench would be a lux...

Re: Rancho MyRide Remote Control Instal Pictorial

OK, the "how do you like it?" stuff - First, it's not air shocks. The air you pump through the system TIGHTENS/LOOSENS the shock's damping. The shocks are traditional gas passers. You adjust the valving by either the manual knob on each shock (stock) or the MyRide adaptor thingie. So the r...

Re: Help Guess at my RF Noise? Speedo Sensor?

you have a DRAC because your van has an electronic dash. If you had a good old fashioned mechanical speedo then you would not have a Drac... I'll keep looking. It's not in the space between radio and AC controls as most places suggest. I've been "up in there" under the dash and haven't se...

Re: Help Guess at my RF Noise? Speedo Sensor?

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think an '89 has a DRAC module. Could be the speedometer itself? On my '87 there is a device in the speedometer housing that converts the mechanical action from the cable into a speed signal that then gets sent to the ECM. But your van sounds like it might be diffe...

Re: Free E Brake cable bracket - On YOUR van!

Those brackets are supposed to limit the rearward movement of the subframe in a front end collision. I'm not real confident that they actually would do anything... Ok, I looked some more. I guess you're right. They might kind of limit the rearward movement in a crash. Bolts aren't very stout. But I...

Lumpy... http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/lis20400.html Exactamundo. I'm guessing those silver bits fit the rectangular top of the shock stud and the black thing that looks like a spark plug socket gets turned by something like open end wrench? Those silver things are gonna die within the first few a...
