AWD Engage/Defeat switch?

As much as I would love to install the 4WD transfer case, that may be more effort than I really need to take on right now. Is it possible to install a 3-way switch to either defeat the AWD for mileage, engage the AWD for low-speed, low-throttle crawling or just left standard? Just thinkin' out loud...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Friday I picked up a Bosch CIS fuel injector cleaner, still bolted to a roll-away cart.

Yesterday we went snowboarding, hung out in the Great A'Tuin between runs...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Last friday I pulled the fold-down bench seat out of a Cash-4-Clunkers 92 shorty. Got it for $35 and and the gray is a close match for my interior. Today I yanked out the fold-out bed I built and bolted it in. It's in roughly the same spot as the stock rear bench. The interior panels on my 2K must b...

Re: Astro motorhomes also partial frame unibody?

If I could ever find/afford an AWD Tiger, the first thing I'd do is lift it, V8 it and have it ready for serious Overlanding.
But I think the only pop-top I'll be able to afford is an Autohome OverZone...

Re: Who has the most miles? Pictures of Odometers!!

I'll get a pic up soon, but The Great A'Tuin (2K AWD) has 222, 250 miles.
W/ the new plug wires she fells like she's ready for another 100K!

It was an Astro! That's what caught my eye. I only saw it for a few second as it went by the other direction...

Re: Astro motorhomes also partial frame unibody?

I saw a Tiger last September when I was coming over Snoqualmie Pass. I was towing a car to North Bend to deliver to the new owner who lives in Bellingham (not Tom L.).
I never knew such a critter existed.
Make mine AWD.

Re: A family friend was killed and her truck stolen

That's terrible! I hope the get the guy. The FIRST murder of 2009. I wish my city was that safe! My Grandparents lived in Mt. Vernon when I was a kid. I always really liked the area... I'd have to say, I enjoy guns, but for most people, especially for those in rural areas, a good dog or two is a far...

Re: 2000 AWD stutters, loses power, shifts poorly---CURED!

Well, near as I can tell, it was the plug wires. I replaced the cap, rotor and wires and cleaned the AMM. The AMM was already pretty tidy, but what could it hurt? The cap pins were heavily corroded and carboned. There was evident arcing on the inside. At only 8K miles. The rotor was OK. The WIRES! H...

Re: G80 into my 2000 AWD

Update w/ snow! We had snow here last week and it was cold enough that the snow stayed on the streets. No salt here. My street was packed down hard so as I rolled up to my house I slowed nearly to a stop. Then I just floored it! I had all 4 Toyos spinning! Can't say I've ever done that before :supz:...

Re: 2000 AWD stutters, loses power, shifts poorly

Only 6K miles since plugs, cap and rotor. It's been foggy the last few nights so I'll take the cover off tomorrow and try it tomorrow night. This problem is driving me crazy! I was starting to think it could be the FI as well. I'll start shopping for new wires tomorrow. I've had good luck with Stand...

2000 AWD stutters, loses power, shifts poorly

All, I've had problems w/ my van for a while now, but lately it's been getting a lot worse. It used to shift poorly, so I thought I had a tranny problem, but now it looks more engine related. When accelerating, particularly under light throttle, the engine misses badly and has a hard time shifting. ...

G80 into my 2000 AWD

Last week I picked up a used rear axle for my 2000 AWD. I was lucky enough to find one from a '99 that matched my 3.73 ring gear. I was going to do the swap Monday, but I ran into an old buddy while at NAPA getting new brake shoes for the project. Turns out he has a shop now and he invites me over t...
