Re: What to do with dead air compressor
Oh... That's... that's just wrong on so many levels Peter.... The pump itself is spinning freely. The motor spins and starts to run...but after about 2-3 seconds it stops because the breaker trips. I have been told my an electrician/electric motor guy locally that the motor is toast when that happen...

Re: What to do with dead air compressor
OK that seems sound advice.
I've no idea what to price it at. I'm guessing $35-$50. The thing was $300 or so many years ago. A new motor for it would be $250....
Sound reasonable?

What to do with dead air compressor
Recently my Craftsman upright 30gal, 5hp, 110V air compressor motor took a dump. A new motor was going to be $250 or more. I got lucky and found a 3.2hp, 60 gal upright, 220V Campbell Hausfeld locally for $400. Now I am left wondering what to do with the old Craftsman unit. Should I still replace th...

Thanks Zam! Here's another one for you. No color adjustments at all to this picture. This is what it looked like out in my backyard one morning....astrozam wrote:Great silhouette shot Cecil

It's a picture of what was my grandparents place. It was taken early in the morning on the day of my uncle's funeral.

You're welcome Zam!
Rob said he'd stop by. He's been busy with his Oldsmobile project rather than the Astro.

$1K? Hmm. If I didn't already have one, an air compressor and as many impact sockets as a person could buy.

Taking Chance
All,
I just finished watching the HBO movie "Taking Chance". The movie is based on a true story of USMC Lt. Colonel who escorts the remains of a fallen Marine PFC named Chance Phelps home.
It is a very emotional, very moving movie.

Re: here's a goofy nostalgic question
I have a 1/4 socket set that I talked my mom into when I was probably 8 years old. My uncle ran a NAPA store at the time and we were visiting him. That would have been...35 years ago.

Re: Frenched Antenna
Good job so far! I remember watching an uncle do the same thing on a truck of his years ago. He used an old shock tube in place of the exhaust tubing because it was lying around... Is the freeze plug solid enough and made out of steel that you can weld? I replaced on of those on a car of mine years ...
