Re: AC blowing warm/hot air | Compressor cycles on/off

If the compressor is cycling off and on, the switch is fine. You are low on refrigerant.

Re: AC compressor seal is dead. Would you ebay for this?

Granted. But when the same part, brand and model number varies from $160 less than I can get it locally to $100 over what I can get it for locally, where should one draw the line?

And locally to me is a minimum 50 mile drive round trip drive to the store at $4/gal.

AC compressor seal is dead. Would you ebay for this?

So the seals in the AC compressor are gone. It's leaking out in less than 24 hours. Pricing compressors, dryers, orifice tubes etc. from local suppliers. Thought, what the hell let's look on fle-bay. This complete kits, minus 134, is only about $15 more than I can get just the compressor for. There ...

Re: Cruise Control Module repair?

OK. Well it's easier than it looks! First, unhook the throttle cable that runs from the cruise module to the throttle body. Next, unbolt the cruise module from the firewall. Next, you will need two screwdrivers to press in the tabs on the cable which lead to the module. Once you have this out, there...

Re: Cruise Control Module repair?

Finally got the replacement part. Now how do I get this thing apart? Looks like there are 2 separate connections of the cable. But I cannot figure out how this comes apart...

Re: Please tell the the pump check valve is in the pump 92 C

If the pump is not running that is one thing. But if you have a VIN Z van, I would expect the fuel pressure to drop to 0 after the van is off for a very short time. This is how TBI normally functions. It does not hold fuel pressure like the VIN W engines do. Whoops! Missed the CPI in your title. Nev...

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

I hear that! I froze while working on it. But burned my finger real good while do it... I made sure the van was warm so I had that radiant heat to try and keep warm from. But burn my one finger removing and installing the left bolt on the EGR valve because I had to rest my finger on what looks like ...

Or having to replace the $100 EGR valve because you didn't use the right gasket too!

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

Update!: It's fixed. I went a bought a new gasket, the one with the screen. Why the f$#%@# is that one $30 vs. less than $5 for the one without the screen. But anyway.... So I took the EGR valve off and it seems like I may not have had it down snug and flush. So that may have been the problem. I ran...

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

Got back to this today. Took the doghouse off and couldn't find the noise... Started poking around the front again. Thought maybe it was the tensioner pulley. But the noise was there with the belt off. So I poked around the EGR valve.... Sure enough there is something rattling around in there... I h...

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

I'll check those Gary while I am in there. I was thinking about doing plugs/wires/cap/rotor while I was in there. Now have family coming to visit so the digging into the van has to wait a couple of hours....

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

20*F out and I am not looking forward to going out there to diagnose this one... I am sure it's not a stuck valve, a rod/crank bearing or anything else that would be considered "catastrophic" at this point. But I do need to take the dog house off and get the stethoscope out and see where t...

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

Further question for you guys who have replaced a spider on a VIN W.

I did this several years ago on this van. I seem to recall I didn't get one of the poppets seated completely. But I don't recall what it sounded like when I did.

Anyone else have that problem and can described the sound to me????

Re: Off to check the wife's van...

Well this can't be good. I took the belt off and started the van. Noise is still there. So it's not accessory drive. That means something is rattling inside... I wonder if a piece of carbon is loose and making that noise??? It almost sounds like a ping. The more I hear it. The more I am convinced it...
