Re: southern wisconsin AWD astro driver

Welcome from someone on the lake side of the state. Nice looking van. Was that rust only the bracket or had it starting rusting the rocker? If so, did you treat it with anything? Hate to see a nice van rust away.

Re: Y pipe for V8 swap? what do I get if off of

Mark, I think you need the right manifold off a G-20 van (early 90's), that has a "N" stamped on it, that will get you a manifold that is pointed in almost the same direction as the Astro V-6 manifold. That will allow you to use the stock Astro "Y" pipe with just minor flaring of...

Re: Rack & PInion Install

Digging up this post again. Since my steering box is loose, and I will be mucking around installing a V-8 this spring, I figured now is as good of a time as any to do this mod. So Skip used a '98 Mustang rack and Rebel used a '94 (according to his sig), so I got that range of 'stangs to look for at ...

Re: I done a GOOD thing!

I will say this. My wife & I used to comment on what appeared to be able bodied people parking in those spots. Since my wife has been recently diagnosed with MS, we both now realize that appearances can be deceiving. She appears fit, but there are days the walk from the lot (not from a handicap ...

Re: New Member from Wisconsin

Well, here is a late welcome from another Milwaukee resident. I don't get on here that often. I like your projects, might have to stop over and check them out. Wish I had the space, time, & money to be working a several projects like that! Right now I am slowly looking to convert my '91 Astro in...

Re: Flipping middle seat for limo style seating

My center row captains can swivel, and the kids love having the seats facing the rear, so that's how they have been for almost as long as I've owned it. Mine is old enough that it just has lap belts, so I don't have the issue that those with shoulder belts have (lap belts are attached to the side of...

That has the "hidden" running boards, right? They look like body cladding but are steps when open. Nice looking van. What does the interior look like?

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

doyoulikeithere, too bad you're too far away. I'd love to take a subframe off of someone's hands. That way I could start fitting a V-8 in and upgrading the front suspension w/o dismantling mine. My van has been been used occasionally, as the cycle gets priority in the summer. Saves gas = $$$ towards...

So Aaron, when it's time to change my tires, just swing by your place with the new rubber, a container of airsoft pellets, and some brats & a grill? And maybe swing by LKQ if they got new stuff...

Since you got that side opened up, why not slap a slider in there! :poke:

Sure looks weird sitting there in her naked frame. The donor Astro probably looks funny too with a big bite chomped out of her side. Glad you're getting her fixed up and back on the road.

Re: Tell me your empty tank stories!

Happened three times to me (so far...), twice in my Camaro, once in my Sebring. The Camaro had an inaccurate gauge, so the first time was a day or so after I bought it. Walked a block to the gas station, bought my first gas can. Second time was a few years later, forgot to grab gas and was hoping I'...

Re: How do I replace my ignition?

Heavy gauge wire, where are you thinking of adding it? My suggestion would be the power to the fuel pump. No pump, no go. Might start & run for a few seconds, but die afterwards. More confusing than no power at all to the vehicle. They'll just think it's some mechanical problem/POS vehicle and l...
