Re: Any issues with year 2000 2wd V8 swap - what donor Vehicle?

Thanks for all the insights - I'm glad I didn't rush into a bad deal. The 5.7 makes sense. In the meantime my next trailer trip is coming up fast - leaving next week from Ottawa area to Halifax with the 8 pack, trailer, and my little dog too! I guess the old 6 banger will have to haul us for this on...

Any issues with year 2000 2wd V8 swap - what donor Vehicle?

Hi Geniuses: I'm looking into a V8 swap for a 2000 Safari, most of the ones I've seen on the threads are for older vans. I've been offered a 305 from a 85 pickup with a 4 barrel, is that a dumb idea? (I think I know the answer to that one...) I'm a mediocre mechanic but I have some friends who can h...

Drive-on beaches in Canada - care to share?

Unlike North Carolina, there are very few "drive-on" beaches in Canada - this one is near Risser's Beach, Nova Scotia from our 2008 trip...If you know of any more, please post! http://lh5.ggpht.com/_idEd6ivOBXI/S_fShiO7GHI/AAAAAAAAAOk/S4F7m7OJFBM/s800/beach1.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_idEd6...

Re: Hello fellow Safarians from Ontario

How does your van handle the camper? We had an 03 AWD and found with out Jayco 232 hybrid, I could not get the van to pull the camper where it felt safe. It was way under powered but that wasn't the main issue I had. Our camper has the torsion axles and it tends to bounce a lot. We even feel it beh...

Re: Hello fellow Safarians from Ontario

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought of gear changes. I'll look through the forums for more info as this is not something I know a lot about. How does this affect towing mileage? I turned off the trip computer on the overhead console during this vacation because seeing an average fuel economy of ...

Hello fellow Safarians from Ontario

Hi, we are a big family of 8 that loves to travel...I'm on the forum to try to make this a better experience for us. Need more power to haul all of us, a 4200lb trailer and our gear. Best trip ever was from Ontario to the Texas/ Mexico border with the trailer, then 8 days into Mexico through the cen...
