Re: Towing Car issues???

plus it will look cool that you made a trailer custom by hand yourself. Not just pulled the engine out of a van and towed the empty shell behind you redneck style. Honestly that was the part that i was trying to figure out... how to make it look like a trailer and not just a broken down van behind....

Re: Towing Car issues???

Well so much for being unique... Its interesting that it is not allowed (in the states?? Canada??) I find this interesting as here in Germany (a country that seems to be obsessed with safty and regulation especially when it comes to vehicles) has trailers like that all over.. Mostly on big 7ton truc...

Towing Car issues???

OK. Once again i have a crazy idea. Probably never going to do it, but,,,...... Here is the question.. Is there a stability issue with towing something with wheels at the corners. Most trailers that in know of, whether they be 5th wheels, or normal, have a central axel (or axles) and then have to ba...

Re: Safari -1 Nissan -0 Pics of the carnage inside

My dad got rearended in is astro a while back, the insurance wrote it off and paid him the replacement cost. He was able to get it fixed pretty cheap and had the extra money.

Of course now he has to fight to get it registered every year. Damn salvage title. and CA>..

Re: Looking to increase fuel economy

Yes. I tend to drive pokey these days, especially since i got the van. Speed really does affect the mileage, when you are pushing as much air out the way of the vehicle like ours. But a tick over 20mpg when doing hwy miles is not unheard of in these things. Good luck. and let us know how it goes.

Re: Limiting slip....

The powertrax lockers just replace the spider gears and require NO setup. You can install these in a few hours with basic hand tools.
That is what i was thinking about..

the price for the parts isn't much different but setting up is very...

Re: AWD Engage/Defeat switch?

I still felt like they were doing something to make the subies do it better. That being said. I would have liked to see more vehicles on the "ramp" for comparison. Like say a "real" 4wd with manual TC and lockers front and rear. But then there would have been a different winner ....

Limiting slip....

Ok i am probably a ways of from doing this but looking into it any way. It was suggested that I go with a powertrax no slip during duscussions on another thread so i looked into the prices. http://www.summitracing.com/search/year/1999/make/GMC/model/SAFARI/Part-Type/Differential-Carriers/?Ns=Rank|As...
