Re: Wouldn't start...now it will!!!

Well I changed the plugs, wires, rotor and cap. There was some wear on the plugs and the terminals of the cap and rotor had some of the same. Tried to change the fuel filter but only able to crack one fitting but not the other do to rust. I sprayed it with some penetrating fluid and I'll keep worki...

Wouldn't start...now it will!!!

I went to take my 2000 Safari for a run yesterday from cold start. It started perfectly as usual but when I got 100 feet out of the driveway, it quit like someone turned off the key. No sputter or anything. Tried repeatedly to start it but nothing. It was quite foggy out and damp though I've never ...

NEW FRONT COILS

Wanted to get my front and rear suspension raised on my rear wheel drive due to sagging and keeping it almost original. Got a quote for 400 cash for a re-arch, add helper leafs and new coils on the front. The rear will be a little higher/stiffer as per my request for towing but was thinking maybe s...

Re: p0507 code and bad fuel economy

May have solved another mystery. I filled up the other day and was going to work the following day when the fault code returned. When the dash light came on so did the one in my head. I had choked the fuel tank pretty full (good fuel price) and the fault may have been generated due to the overfill ...

Re: p0507 code and bad fuel economy

Well I think I figured out my fuel economy issue at least. Put the snow tires on about that time and got to thinking the tires are 225/75-15 and the van takes 215/75-15 so I'm sure that didn't help. They usually don't lose traction but sure gonna beat up my mileage. Oh well good weighs out the bad....

Re: brake line replacement

Did my 2000 Safari rear wheel drive a few months back and the lines were all 1/4 inch except for the back two where they go from the tee to the brake cylinders which were 3/16". Hope this helps. I posted a thread same as this about halfway down this category. You can get steel lines for cheap, ...

Re: p0507 code and bad fuel economy

Yeah, gonna tackle that in next couple of days. This is the part that I think we love to hate about these vans is getting inside and personal with the mid part of the engine...gettin my big head in there to get close enough to listen let alone see!! Mirrors and lights I guess. I have some throttle ...

p0507 code and bad fuel economy

Help me!!! You guys have any suggestions? 2000 Safari rear wheel drive with 188k on it (just bought the van recently). Running good and came back from a 2 hour trip and code popped up. P0507. Gradually getting harder on fuel. Sluggish response at take off but will go if shove the throttle down. Loo...

air conditioning question

I was wondering if anybody knew at what temperature the air conditioning compressor stopped kicking in at? Freezing point or lower or higher? Hate running it at the moderate temperatures using heat to defrost and the compressor running. I'm sure there is a reason for that but in the name of fuel co...

WANT MORE PONIES!!!

Just checking in, got the 2000 Safari all e-tested and certified but now, I'm ready to do some minor tweaking without engine swap or loss of miles per gallon. Will probably look into a K&N air filter. Haven't done cap, rotor or plugs yet but likely due for it. Like to do cold air intake but not...

BEST SPARK PLUGS

Hey just checking to see what you guys like in the way of spark plug brands and maybe cap and rotor sets. Maybe even hotter plugs etc. too. I have a 2000 Safari and it has a slight stutter at idle and haven't done them yet. Just got it 3 weeks ago and passed the E test and certify. Now for the nitt...

Re: Brake line and fitting sizes

Went with the poly coated. Job went well. Stops like a new van. I appreciate all the advise guys. Talk to you on the next problem. Oh yeah...the lines were all 1/4 inch except for the back two where they go from the tee to the brake cylinders. Thanks guys.

Re: Brake line and fitting sizes

Lots of good info. Thanks guys. Would like to use the copper/nickel stuff but will probably go for the middle of the road poly coat tube. Steel lasted well and this should be better. Three times the money for the copper/nickel tube here in Ontario. Will buy new fittings but I will pay close attenti...
