Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

When I owned my smurf blue 1984 BJ60 it was already 21 years old and there were very few left on the road around here. In the 3 or 4 years I owned it, I don't think I ever had the chance to see another one up close on the road. I occasionally saw one parked with nobody in it, or catch a quick glimps...

Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

Cool! Yeah, Land Cruisers rock. Mine was a 3B diesel 60 series. Diesels were available in Canada but not the US. Sadly, Canadian winters took a toll on all of them and turned them into rust buckets. Mine wasn't too bad considering it spent over 20 years in a snowbelt region of Canada, less rusty tha...

Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

Interesting that there are more compromises with lowering than lifting. I've never pushed my vans to its limits, but I can see it flipping over if I took a sharp corner on a freeway exit ramp at the right speed and turned the wheel just the right way - and that's at stock height. My van still sits p...

Re: Anyone interested in a Group Buy for a Cat's Eye Grille?

Yep, I'll be sure to post some pics when I get in painted and installed. It will probably be in the next couple of months. I'd like to wait until after the winter - less chance of it cracking or getting road salt all over it. I also want to order a billet grille insert to go along with it.

Re: Is it worth 3x the price for OEM bearings/ABS sensor?

I've decided to get the aftermarket parts, but will install them when the winter is over. My stock bearings aren't "that" bad yet, so I can stretch it out a few more weeks or months. Then once the new parts are installed, I won't have to worry about winter road salt corroding the sensors -...

Re: Anyone interested in a Group Buy for a Cat's Eye Grille?

OK, so it doesn't seem that too many people are interested in this grille after all - or at least putting up the cash for one. I'll leave it open a bit longer, but soon I will paint and install my cat eye grille. Once that's done, I won't be pulling it off for someone to make a mold for manufacturin...

Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

Too many people on this forum love stock vans. I say do it. Go crazy. Pimp that bucket. But if you're going to do it don't half-ass it. Once you start with a body kit you need to pimp the whole van. Otherwise it will look like that red one you have pictured that screams "I aint gots da Benjami...

Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I agree with those of you who said that if I'm going to do it, go all the way with it. No half-@$$ job. Soooo.... I've decided NOT to install it. I'm only going to install the cat eye grille, which was all I really wanted from the beginning. The Xenon Cobra kit ...

Re: Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too bli

And for a reference point, here is my stock 2005 Astro (rear wheel drive) passenger van in Cadet Blue. Regardless of what I do, I'd like to take the roof rack off. Pictured here are my 16" Chevy Silverado chrome wheels with my summer tires. For winter, I have gray steelies, pretty much the same...

Xenon Cobra body kit for my 05 Astro-should I or too blingy?

OK, so I just bought a Xenon Cobra body kit and a Cat's Eye grille (I had to buy all - the seller would not sell just the grille). I love the grille, but the body kit is not my style. It looks very west coast-ish, like something Xzibit from the TV show "Pimp My Ride" would use, along with ...

Anyone interested in a Group Buy for a Cat's Eye Grille?

What's a "Cat's Eye" Grille? The much sought after, but no longer available "Cat's Eye" grille is a grille shell that fits over your stock 1995-2005 Astro grille and composite headlight and turn signal lenses. You've probably seen pictures of these (see below for examples). They...

Re: Euro-spec amber front turn signal lenses available anywh

I emailed Chevrolet in England (Vauxhall) and they replied, but weren't able to help. The person who replied gave me an email address of someone who might be able to help though (seems like an aftermarket supplier for American Chevrolet products in the UK). However, like you said, it might be easier...

Re: Who Is Going To Be First??.Diesel Conversion.

Hmmm, well if the 6.5 with mechanical injection is as easy to swap as a 350 V8 gas, maybe I'll consider it. But down the road... would be cool to have a shorty cargo van with diesel, turbo diesel would be even better. It would be even sweeter with a 12V Cummins, but that's probably a lot more work, ...

Re: Who Is Going To Be First??.Diesel Conversion.

That's a nice van! I would drive it. It's not an Astro, and not too modern, but it's a diesel, in great shape for a great price and ready for the road. A whole lot less money and hassle than doing a diesel swap into an Astro. The last thing I need is another vehicle, but if I lived closer and had th...
