Have you done any voltage drop testing on the ignition or fuel ciruits? It only takes a very slight increase in resistance to cause big problems.

I've often thought about relocating the battery, I haven't really looked under the van for suitable spots though. My original plan was to cut a hole underneath the drivers seat and fab a sealed battery box there. Since batteries are pretty tall and I don't want anything sticking out like a sore thum...
