Re: Ah...its campin time

Been a long time since this thread was active! Just wanted to say the vintage Winnie is now up for sale (not auction) on eBay-pretty cheap too. If you'e interested, take a look.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-Classic-Winnebago-Brave-1972-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c156b6454QQitemZ12061844386...

Re: Jacking and Placing on Jack Stands

I agree, blocking lumber is the way to go. I like 4x4 (or bigger) oak for this. Also, if the surface under your jack stands is soft (like asphalt) put something solid under them, like thick plywood. It really sucks when one side sinks into the ground.... The hissing noiise sounds like either you've ...

Re: Would you buy it?

IMHO that's a $300-$500 van. Definitely not worth $1k. Let's face it, who's gonna buy it (other than another Astro/Safari lover)??? Also, $3K is a hell of a lot for a tranny replacement. As an example, I had the tranny replaced on my wife's Caravan for $1200. I got a deal on the job-my work referred...

Re: Ah...its campin time

Yes, I was kidding........I put WAY too much work into that old girl to want to see her destroyed by a bear..... It was just an excuse to show off pics of the Winnie! But since we're on the bear subject-here's a few pics of the one I snuck up on (literally) afew streets from my house. He was wandern...

Re: mini survival kit for kids

The problem with water purifying tabs is that once the bottle is opened, they deteriorate quickly. Purification tabs last approximately 3 months once exposed to air. They also aren't as good as other methods of purification. Chemical purification methods may only be partially effective, depending on...

Re: Ah... its campin time

You need to tell your wife that a hard-side or whatever she wants really only slows the bear down for like 10 seconds or so ... just enough time for you to notice you are wetting your pants >.< Unless the bears in US differ from those in Canada? :poke: My '72 Winnie will slow down the bears (US or ...

Re: seized engine

tbhager-nice to hear you got it running. If you decide to replace it soon, I need an engine part if you'd be willing to consider selling one. I have an '89 Astro RWD with a 4.3, A/C no smog pump. I need the bracket that bolts to the front of the engine (the A/C compressor bracket, alternator, and po...

Forget PayPal-use your credit card!!

If you're concerned about a seller on eBay,but can't resist buying the part, you'll get much better fraud protection by using your credit card to fund your purchase. You can still use PayPal, just add your card to your account as a funding source. If a sale goes bad, you'll need to use PayPal's reso...

:drinkers: The RPO sticker may be found in one of three places on different year vans, depending on the year. Earlier vans (like mine) had them in the glove box, some on the doors, and a few in the engine compartment. Not sure on the year/location breakdown, but next time I get off my fat rump I'll ...
