I have had burnt band and clutches on previous teardowns. To me, burnt is when the clutches are black and they also have cracks\spidering in the material. The true tale of burnt parts are when the metal plates or drum they ride on are blued from the heat. All the clutch material in this trans were d...

How does the spot where the pin goes on the band look? That band looks pretty charred tbh. By the drum it wore evenly, still. Hey, are those the pliers for the stupid C clips that they use for the pistons? Man, I really wish I woulda had a set of those. If I ever do one for my buddy he's ponying up...

This is the one we got from the JY that was in a 90 PU. This has been the nicest tranny I have pulled apart so far. Only thing I found bad was all the seals in the trans are hardened or bad. As for common problems I haven't done many to know. Personally, each one I dissasembled had different problems.

LOL. I thought the same thing Trybe. As for my feelings for AS.com, I have no bad feelings for it. The site was great. It is the Adminstartor who owns the name that I have a problem with and I'll leave it at that. What has kept me coming back is the people. Wherever the people showed up is where I w...

Went to DCControl.com. Never would have thought of using a variable speed fan controller. Most are on/off relays. Of course, relays are way cheaper than their controller, but what is the overall and long range goals....efficient and reliable. Bookmarked What swayed me to this controller over the re...

I don't like the variable speed controllers for the following reasons: 1. Cost 2. I don't like something deciding what speed my fans should be at. 3. Cost 4. I have read quite a few problems with especially perma cools controller but also everyone else's, most of them are great companies and warant...

I installed a controller from Delta Current http://www.dccontrol.com to manage my Taurus fan. The stock shroud covers most of my pre 95 radiator. I need no relays as it is a solid state unit that varies the output. Meaning it starts and stops progressively. So far in 85* with high humidity with fron...
