Re: Coolant leak
I would never use a mechanic that would even suggest using a stop leak. I doesn't get any more unprofessional than that. What other short cuts is he going to make on your vehicles? He might be trying to save you a buck, but in reality he is not. The only time I would use a stop leak would be in an e...

Re: My sons 94 project
Some more work done. While installing new vacuum line hoses I realized I was one port short on the TBI. The van originally had an electronic EGR. The 5.7 does not. Didn't even think about the TBI not having the needed port. Rather than trying to score another TBI body, I removed a tube from a junk b...

Re: Coolant leak
Argh! I just went through removing a broken intake bolt from the head of the engine going in my kids van. I was super careful to drill dead center. Then re tapped it. Good luck!

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?
Good luck. I have done the hole in the rear. Not worth it IMHO. You have to take out the seats and so much trim to get the carpet up, it just wasn't worth it.

Re: My sons 94 project
Of course I will be priming the engine before starting. Just never adjusted lifters before pumping them on a car. Funny thing is that on my Harleys I always adjust them completely dry. The cam kit is #3702. We managed to complete our punch list this weekend. Motor is assembled with all new gaskets, ...

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?
I haven't done a pump on a 96 up van but I have seen other posters who just replaced the pump body. Not really any more difficult than changing the whole assembly.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuild?
It's ONE AC Delco pump body used on MANY different assemblies. One of them being a 99 Astro.

Re: My sons 94 project
Anybody ever install an Edelbrock cam using their instructions for adjusting the lifters? They warn NOT to pump the new lifters before adjusting. They then have you bring the exhaust valve to just rising and adjust the intake. Bring the intake to it's lowest travel and adjust the exhaust. Bring each...

Re: My sons 94 project
Hopefully the engine will be buttoned up Sunday. So far we stripped it down and cleaned. Took the heads off and replaced the seals and put some Edelbrock springs in. Replaced the timing chain and installed an Edelbrock cam and lifters. It is such a pain using a used motor. 90% of your time is cleani...

Re: Transmission filter & gasket kit
The only true way to replace all the fluid in a tranny is to bring it somewhere that has a fluid transfer machine or do it yourself with a couple 5 gallons buckets and hoses. There is a post around somewhere by SoCalliV8 of the do it yourself. The torque converter holds several quarts of fluid that ...

Re: My Hemi Dodge - Built From the Ground Up!
Yeah, and so important with the hemi too! Exactly! LOL It just stuck out. Just be warned, if you do install them I'll be checking the firing order! I used to build a lot when I was younger. The ones I still had were destroyed by my boys when they were little. Oh well. Hope they had fun with them at...

Re: Censor me - Remove me
I was ashamed as a member ASV at some of the posts in the OLV thread. Now I'm just plain embarrassed at this one. And what the heck is with posting your name and address Lumpy? You want some cookies sent or something? I don't get it.
