Re: Replacing hoses to my rear heater and AC
Got it done. I don't take shortcuts with bandaid fixes. This is on a J&J conversion 2002 AWD Astro that I really take good care of. I always keep the fluids fresh with quality products such as Amsoil. As a matter of fact, when I bought the van new, the first thing I did was spray amsoil metal pr...

Re: Replacing hoses to my rear heater and AC
oooPs, correction, I do not have rear AC, just a rear heater that 4 hoses run to.
Can I just cut and trim the end of these?

Replacing hoses to my rear heater and AC
The ends of the hoses at the connectors about mid-way to the back of my 2002 astro are cracked and leaking. Can I just disconnect them at the fitting (catching the dexacoolant of course), cut them a little to get a fresh end and then reconnect and refill? It looks like there is enough slack to do th...

I learned many years ago, one change at a time (whenever possible). The only thing I did was disconnect the battery before changing the fuel filter. No other work on it or changes. When I finished changing the fuel filter, I reconnected the battery and started it. It did crank for a few extra second...

Erasing (reseting) Service Engine Light
Over the weekend I changed the fuel filter on my 2002 Chevy AWD Astro. Everything went well with no problems. However, when I started it I got a "Service Engine Soon" light. I'm thinking this is because I "broke" into the fuel pressure system changing the filter. How do I reset t...

The quickest way is to just pull the lower rad hose. But be ready for a torrent of fluid. I guess I'm not too worried about the flash flood of fluid (those cheap little $4 kiddie pools from Walmart slide right under the vehicle and work well at catching stuff), but how well will this drain the syst...

Help on changing antifreeze in an AWD Astro
I'd like to change the antifreeze myself on my 2002 astro awd van. I couldn't find a manual for the awd vans so I bought the Hanyes Manual anyway which is only for 2 wd. According to the manual I should first drain the radiator via the drain fitting, then remove the block drain plugs to drain it com...

Thank you guys for your prompt replies. Thats reassuring. Right now the gas tank if full so I'll probably wait until next weekend to try this when the tank is closer to empty in case I run into any unexpected problems (it might be better not to have a full tank). If I do have any problems, I'll be s...

Changing the fuel filter
My 2002 astro is getting old already and I'm trying to do some preventive maintenance on it. Regarding changing the fuel filter which is easy to get to. I've heard the fuel system is under constant/considerable pressure and should be depressurized before unscrewing the filter. However, I've also hea...
