Re: i need especifications of 4.3cc V6

You can also try http://www.fueleconomy.org and plug in your van, and other years for users and government ratings. My numbers are a little worse than above but it's a AWD so that is normal - I have been keeping track and run between 15 and 17L per 100km City.

Re: Subframe/Crossmember R and R

Just for info I bought mine used and I agree it needs a little TLC - really it's just surface rust - but that is what I want to keep it - so it was time to get under it. As for good cleaning - it will be again in the spring but with the crappy stock running boards a guy cannot even get under this th...

Re: tire tips

I like winter tires in the winter - once you try them you'll understand.... and swear by them - however that might not be an option depending on finances... I also have a set of LT tires for the summer - I plan to get a travel trailer and drive gravel back roads - so the LT's are a must for me. In t...

Re: Hybrid RV's

SO does anyone on the forum have any experience with a Jayco Kiwi Too RV's - 22 foot - here are the specs. I know the Astro is rated to 5500lbs in the AWD configuration, and this unit is bacially the same weight as a hybrid. I'll have the tranny cooler installed soon, and then get airbags for the ba...

Here's a link to a photos of that solenoid from my 2001 - might help with the locate - I just disconnected and bypassed it and water always flows now - including in the summer - hasn't cause any issues for me http://www.flickr.com/photos/7474654@N04/1471062090/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/7474654@N...

Re: Undercarriage Protection for winter

I just did exactly that - product I used was good old Tremclad Flat Black rust paint after a good wire brushing in the drill and a good clean - then I used a undercoating product - "Rust Check Black Undercoating" I bought it at Wal-Mart actually - made in Canada product - its a petroleum p...

Re: Marker light as mirror signal light ????

I personally am going to make a trip to the junk yard to try to find a side marker lamp out of a fender for my use. I am going to install it in the fender also, not mirror. I want one out of a VW, Audi, Mitsubishi, or similar, I figure they might hold up better, have better gaskets than the motorcyc...

Re: what can the stock astro beat?

These must be really bad drivers - I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon with a 2.4L (160HP) auto and it would chew up and spit out my Astro for a light snack. You must be kidding my old Mazda Protege with the 2.0L (130HP) 5 speed would also kill the Astro. Seriously a stock 4.3 Astro probably won't...

Subframe/Crossmember R and R

Well decided to get energetic and attempt to clean up the subframe, crossmembers and various underbody components. A little wire brushing, grinding, acid rust remover, paint and undercoat and the van should be good to go for a while longer. I'll post some photos in a day or 2 just for a little show ...

if it keeps doing it - maybe try a word document or similar - and before you post cut and paste it into a word document and save just in case it crashes - sounds like a connection problem with your ISP or something

Seat Belt Locking Mechanism

Just a weird question - you know how when you pull on the seat belts really quick they usually lock... it seems that none of the belts in my Astro do this. Does anyone have similar issues or know anything about this? Any recalls that anyone know about - I am finding it odd that NONE of the belts in ...

Re: 2001 AWD Safari - Maintenance schedule at 88K miles???

If you do a lot of towing I would consider a tranny service again - new filters and fluid - maybe go to synthetic.... I know around here the jump to synthetic will almost break the bank, but it's probably what I am going to do as soon as I install the tranny cooler - man have I been lazy - it's been...
