Is that a homemade canoe rack on your astro van? I've been looking for something sort of like the rain gutter racks on the full size vans that will set the canoe above my roof rack. I wanted something that would attach to the factory cargo rails. The Tule racks look like they would do the trick but...

Well my um.. 2004 Astro, stock, carrying nothing but it's own weight manages about 14-16mpg. freaking crap: my '86 Astro, even before the resto-mod, got 18-20. 2004......1986... and it's this much worse? o.0 The difference is that your 1986 was about 1,000 lbs lighter! Here's a couple of pics of last May's annual canoe trip on the Cacapon River in WV. Been dry so rivers kinda low. I hear ya. I've been driving astros since 1990 and my 1st car was a VW Bus, a 1972 I bought from my dad in '77 and drove 'til '81.
I rolled it in 1980 but that's another story for another day............

With the Astro out of production it would seem to me there is a market here in N America for the Ford Diesel Transit. I wonder what the cost is versus the Dodge Sprint?
