Re: Pictures and advice please!

I'm mid swing with my LT1 swap in my 98. I mounted the engine, tranny to the frame and positioned the power plant so the back of the tranny is the same as the 4.3 was and found out the tranny mount wont line up in ether mounting holes. The A/C compressor is about 1/2 in from the frame, notch? I thin...

Re: Steering won't return

Caster is the angle that is required to return the wheel while moving. I don't know whats wrong with that van but just imagine a grocery cart and the wheels. BTW Caster isn't adjustable, after all other angles are adjusted caster should be spot on.

Re: LT1 SWAP

I'm this close to tearing into a perfectly good 98 to install the LT1 but the only thing is the ABS. I was wondering if I could use the controller from the 95 Caprice, it has 5 brake lines. Should I use the fuse, relay box from the caprice or tie the wiring from the LT1 into the Astros fuse box?

Re: LT1 SWAP

What's everyone doing with the Anti-lock brakes on a swap? I haven't seen the connector on the 98 Astro controller but I think it is different.

Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

Well, I would love to make the swap after the trip, but its not an option. I have a knock in the motor, best I can tell a collapsed lifter and not a lower end knock. But we really won't know until I pull the V6 down and check it out. Once I heard the knock, I parked the van. This is what prompted t...

Re: Thoughts about my bad v8 fuel economy.

The tank doesn't get full because of expansion, there's a air pocket on top but still a 5 gallon air pocket.

Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

You can disconnect the Air Pump and block the passages as per the TSB. I am working on a 95 LT1 with iron heads now and found out the core plugs are brass and with 49,000 miles I am fighting the urge to install new ones. Nice find, I also have a few questions about wiring, dash, passkey, but I hope...

Re: Intake Manifold Leak

Yes there is a high rate of failure and not only the 4.3. Get a Felpro gasket set and a Multi port injection kit from Linder Technology and enjoy another 100,000 Miles.

Re: '96 - '02 4.3 CSFI to MPFI Injector upgrade kit.

Linder Technologies in Indy. makes these and sells them for 300.00, multi port injectors where the poppet valves were. I have installed 3 of these on Astros and one on a V-8. Everyone tells me the performance is better than new. And you don't need the 59-62 lbs fuel pressure.
