Re: Body to subframe bushings
The Pontiac Fiero's sub frame from 84-87 had bushings like the ones of the Astro. When I put a 3300 in mine there are solid aluminum ones that I used. The 88 fiero came factory with solid frame mounts.

Re: Intake Manifold Leak
Hey Mike, I am a retired profession mechanic & over the last 40+ years, I have owned & operated 3 different auto repair shops. I do all of the maintenance & repair on my own vehicles, as I do not trust 90% of the "so-called" mechanics in my area. I'm not sure where you got the...

Re: Engine balancing question
A 91 motor is 18 years old, I can't imagine a journal that doesn't have some sort of wear on a motor with 100,000+ miles. To just balance a crank shaft ( Heavy Duty Special Equipment) wouldn't do the engine justice with out balancing the Pistons and rods.

Re: brake-light in dash is on??
what's this on, your Yugo? Sorry about that but my crystal ball is broke and that's the only way I have to fix cars over the Internet, Just joking. The reason the year of the van is so important is that along with where the van is stored, location, and the condition of the van, age are determining ...

Re: LT1 SWAP
Thanks Zam man, as far as the advance the 95 LT1 has no adjustment. I think I have Batt. voltage where Ign. volts go, I was just wondering if its a swap thing.

Re: Yippe... It's in and It RUNS!!
I worked at a custom Muffler shop in the mid 80's for a year and a half and I swore off glass packs after the first pull over by the cops. I take my 4 kids to a religious school every day and it would be interesting to see the look on the faces of those who like the short hair and well mannered chil...

Re: Yippe... It's in and It RUNS!!
That's the sound I was hoping for with my swap, with headers but it sounds sane going through the stock muffler. Yours sounds plain Mean, if my Astro sounded like that then for sure I would send my wife to work in it. BTW she's a Social Worker.

Re: Starter/flywheel questions
The wrong starter flywheel set up won't work. If the flywheel is too big for the starter the starter gear will ram the flywheel, if too small it will ether grind or miss the flywheel teeth.

Re: LT1 SWAP
Hey all, I have a weird one. when I turn off the ign. switch the engine keeps running. I have a fuse panel for the injectors and it is powered up with a wire that gets power only when the ign switch is on run and start. I pull the injector fuses to shut it off, while running with the key off the wir...

Re: LT1 SWAP
Well the good news is, I have pictures, just don't know how to post them. I know I can just haven't tried. I'm pretty sure I won't have reverse lights because the Caprice had the park neutral switch on the collom and the Astro on the tranny. My oil pressure and fuel gauge peg but I'll see what I can...

Re: LT1 SWAP
Well I started the van today, just for a few seconds and it sounded quiet considering the headers. I have to bleed the brakes, do the radiator, fans, ABS, make the wires look invisible.

Re: Intake Manifold Leak
Sorry about your problems with your 97. I do these all the time, there is a TSB on the tightening of the intake bolts, it says that improper sequence and torque are critical to main bearing failure, so I personally would leave this job to a professional. And not to get you more down but you can't se...
