Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

You Know, I now have two return lines going to the reservoir, one from the brake booster and one from the gear. Anyway I tee'ed it and when I start it I guess I'll find out if there is too much volume.

Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

Thanks Peter, all I can say is Wow, You've given me more ideas and your craftsmanship is awesome it looked like a factory AWD light, just kidding. I have some more questions, I routed all the Power steering lines and came up with one too many. The pressure line leaves the pump to the brake Hydro boo...

Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

Aloha all, I have almost everything dialed in but I have some questions on the wiring. The 95 Caprice had a low oil lite, a change oil light, and a low coolant wires that I don't know where to put or if I need these at all. I am using both the 98 Astro's fuse/relay box and the Caprice one because of...

Re: Xephius's unnoffical LT1 conversion thread.

Well I'm wording on mine. I have a lot done, Lot's more to do. Motor and tranny are in and under vehicle, drive shaft in, dip sticks in, Headman headers on, Exhaust crossover pipe made but off cuz the front is lowered for access. All wiring is done up to the front of engine, I have to connect wires ...

Re: Power Steering configuration

Hey Zephius, I am working on my van right now, the front is in the air so I will wait to do the final measuring for later. The pressure line leaving the pump from the Caprice Wgn. goes under the engine and goes almost up to the gear but it goes into the Hydro-boost unit, right side. A pressure line ...

Re: Electrical problem!

I'm not sure about your van but the Ign. switch is on the column down by the brake peddle. There are 4 15mm bolts holding the column to the dash, if you remove these the column will move down far enough to access the switch. Watch the rod coming from the wheel area, I tape it to the column so it doe...

Re: LT1 SWAP

OK whose lame A$$ idea was it to put a V8 into an Astro van in the first place? And for those of you who were wondering if a 95 LT1 out of a Caprice wagon will fit a 98 Astro, it doesn't. The front body mounts are about 2" away because the floor is sitting on the exhaust Manifolds. The Alternat...

Re: My first welding project

Not bad for a first try. That bracket will stay there forever. A few tips from a really old welder person. 3/32 and 1/8 6011 rod will do 99% of every thing you'll do in automotive type fabrication. No more than 60 amps with the 3/32 and 70-90 amps with the 1/8. The thicker the metal the more amps. ...

Mike, will the outside tail stock from the Astro transmission bolt to the transmission you are now using. A lot of those, the only difference is the rear mount itself. I lost track of which tranny you are now using Oh hey HP, I just made the rear mount for the Astro. The 4L60E that came with the 95...

Re: Pictures and advice please!

Hey all, So I pulled van into the shop today and started to remove everything to drop the motor out the bottom. Everything has gone smoothly so far, but I have run into a couple snags. The big one is the ABS module. WTF do I do with this? My plan is to unbolt it from the fire wall, disconnect it fr...
