Re: 200,000 for my van

:drinkers: Cheers Dan for hitting 200K miles.

I'm not far behind you I have almost 195K miles with the original engine, trans & fuel pump.

Did you get your Astro/Safari back up and running, the last I recall you purchased your relatives ford explorer.

Re: need to do flushes

My flushing "T" is made by prestone available at the local autoparts store and mounts in the heater hose line. To make it work correctly you need to remove the thermostat so that you can flush the entire system. I am on city water & sewer and discard my old antifreeze down the toilet s...

I've been changing my fuel filter every 30K and still have my original fuel pump with 194K miles.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

Phttt! Set code again. Did the procedure a second time, still sets code. Noticed something, the P0302 code only sets if I get off the gas. If I keep my foot on the throttle a little the code doesn't set. Gonna have my wife pick up a second bottle tomorrow and dump the whole thing in the tank. Hopef...

Re: DTV convertor box

The Zenith DTT901 converter boxes from circuit city allow you to switch from analog to digital signal without swapping any cables. I have been using mine for several months now and I am happy. Channel 2 (Chicago) is the only problem channel that sometimes I can't get the digital signal. They are the...

Re: here's a goofy nostalgic question

Got a couple of S&K sockets from a set my Dad gave me when I was 16, think that was 1963. I think. :muhaha: I also have a 1/4" S&K socket set my Dad gave me when I was around that age, around the mid 1970's. Aside from hand tools my oldest piece of shop equipment is my 1954 Shopsmith M...

Re: AWD Front Differentials

I've done WD-40, heating with a propane torch, and PB Blaster. I don't own an impact wrench yet. Wonder if my 2.5 hp compressor is up for the job. Aaron, My experience with air impact guns is that you will get more torque with a breaker bar unless you have an industrial air compressor (3-phase type...

Re: Trans options for Green.

Edited to include the used trans price. Southern you still think the same with that price? Aaron, I still think the same with that price, however it depends on what your situation is. Can you drive Grumpy while Green sits and wait for you to rebuild the existing trans or do you want Green to get ro...

I think you should list your options.

Sorry, I didn't notice the poll on top. I voted for the used trans & keep the old one to rebuild.

Re: oil plug

My 92 Astro factory oil plug does not have a conventional gasket. I appears that there is a built in o-ring near the head that prevents oil from dripping.

Re: Furnace Motor Took A Dump

Great job. So, was the hp rating identical to the old motor? And was the measured amperage on high speed? Yes, the new motor is also rated at 1/4 HP and amps were both measured at high speed. The old motor is a Franklin Electric and the new motor is Emerson Electric. The generic book that came with...

Re: Furnace Motor Took A Dump

Finally got the new blower motor today. It warmed up enough to start melting the snow so I took my time installing the new blower motor. I measured the amps of the new motor with no load (sitting on the floor) to be 2.1A. The old motor with no load measured 3.2A. After installing the new blower moto...
