Well, this is the way how it works here in Germany: no tech. mods whatsoever allowed without official approval by technical control (basically the same service that does the mandatory check every 2 years)?Que paso? Unt, what? Please explain.

Re: Tire choices w/ 5" lift
Found this spare carrier and thought this might be ok if drilled high enough onto the door so that the wheel can tilt just enough before touching the bumper to allow opening of the upper (glass) part of the tailgate. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000168443/mediaC...

Would lift blocks be allowed/available for composite springs?Rockwerx wrote:Yes, the shims go between the springs and the axle. You could also use a lift block which are usually tapered (to correct pinion angle) to give you some more lift.

Re: Add-a-Leaf Helper Springs... Questions!
(I'm assuming this was your point.) Right. Thanks for that contribution. Very helpful indeed. So if one was to use longer shackles (not due to technical conviction but because sending leaf springs to Europe IS expensive and exceeding their value by far) where do the shims which will help maintain t...

Re: Overland still alive ?
Nice pic.
But actually no need for praying, just post here and you get an answer from Dan in no more than 4 hours.
The question is now: Has this site meanwhile become so essential that professionals can't risk missing any topic or has anyone forwarded my question?
Anyhow, thanks for helping ......

Re: Add-a-Leaf Helper Springs... Questions!
Frank,DL didn't really do a lift. She installed an extra leaf in her spring kit. Kind of like overload springs for a weary rearend (like that DL :muhaha: ) There was no body lift or longer shackle installed. The pinion doesn't change although the tailshaft end of the driveshaft might a hair. Picture...

This may be a dumb question but doesn't any kind of lift change the pinion angle?LiftedAWDAstro wrote:D/L did not use the shackle so her pinion angle did not change.

Overland still alive ?
Has anyone been in contact with Dan from Overland lately?
Sent a mail twice and left a msg on the voice-box, all within past 2 weeks or so, without reponse.

Re: Tire choice at stock height...
I like the idea running 235/75-15 on my stock 94 AWD.
Would I avoid the rubbing at full lock described earlier in this thread by increasing the backspace by say 1/2" ?

Re: What's after Safari/Astro vans???
The Transit is available since last fall with a 5cyl. 3.2l 200hp turbodiesel,
BUT unfortunately officially only starting with the middle-length wheelbase (there are 3 size options), which makes it 5.23m long overall.
That's about 16" longer than a A/S.
And it's RWD only.
