Re: Air ride on sad pimped 92 Astro!!
Thanks Danny. Praise indeed coming from yourself!! Lowering bumper down time. Took about 4 hours to weld extensions onto the bumper to subframe mounts and redrill the holes and weld on the nuts in the new place. In this photo you can see the original holes. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/an...

Re: Air ride on sad pimped 92 Astro!!
Thanks guys. I now need a lower support for the front bumper/gfx, then extend the fenders down to meet the top of it, then lower the original chrome bumper down to provide a support for the top surface of the gfx. Finally decide how much space I need for all the lights and then fab a panel that conn...

Re: project ratstro
Nice one Danny
Must have been fun welding the thin tub thickness to the thick chassis section though.
Are you going to put any type of seat back there?
Roughly what angle are the 4 links to the horizontal at ride height? Any idea?
Andy.

Re: front end conversion(older van----newer clip)
Here are the requested photos of the hood latch support bracket that bolts to existing holes in the old core support. Worked well and very strong. Here are a few views before it gets painted http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/andyfanshawe/DSCF0289.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/and...

Re: Air ride on sad pimped 92 Astro!!
Will do mattblackratbus. Thanks for the advice. Managed to fab together a hood catch plate that bolts to existing holes in the old core support. Worked well and very strong. Re: front end conversion(older van----newer clip)
Andy's take is definately an alternative but it is seems like it would be extra work in the long haul unless you are going totally custom up front. The grill, lights, bumper, etc. will not fit without a bunch of fab work. Plus, if you are installing a V8 you will lose the best part of a front end c...

Re: front end conversion(older van----newer clip)
Now thats some great alternative pics there!question,"IF" I was to leave the old core support, how and where did you bolt the bottom of the new fenders? If you mean the front of the fenders, have a look at this photo http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/andyfanshawe/DSCF0260.jpg The re...

Re: front end conversion(older van----newer clip)
Here is an alternative way to bolt up the new shape fenders to the older van without the need to change the core support. The fenders are obviously too long, so these brackets were fabricated. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/andyfanshawe/DSCF0282.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/a...

Re: Air ride on sad pimped 92 Astro!!
Rightio then. What progress has occured over the last few days? I have spent hours and hours and hours modifying the fender hinges to get the fender to hood gaps perfect. Then I had to bend the fender ends to match the hood contours. Here's a couple of photos of the ends of the hood hinges adjusted ...

Re: Air ride on sad pimped 92 Astro!!
Battery tray next before I relocate the charcoal canister and round those corners off. Made out of heavy plate (2 and a half mill), a lot of cutting, grinding, welding, blood (found a way to clean my mucky hands-just scrape all the skin off with a hacksaw) and sweat. No tears though. http://i167.pho...

Re: front end conversion(older van----newer clip)
Mines done a different way! No cutting of the old shell at all! Here are 2 photos of the new fenders mounted on the old original core support. As been said before, they are too long, so................ http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/andyfanshawe/DSCF0266.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albu...
