Well, finally got it running.
I put the memory chip in the ebay ecm , ran a little better, checked fuel pump pressure, it was 8 psi so I put in a new pump motor.
The idle is a little rough, but I can drive the van.
Going to look at idle sensor next.
Open for ideas. thanks.

Re: 93 Astro ECM1 Fuse Blows if key is on
Thanks. I am getting an education, things are a lot different than when I worked on cars 30 years ago. All kinds of things I am trying to get my truck running. I took the old ecm to a friend who is good with electronics. he looked at it and said the part burned up was a diode and he replaced it with...

Re: 93 Astro ECM1 Fuse Blows if key is on
Thanks for the tip.
The problem is I do not know what the memory chip looks like or how to swap it.

Re: 93 Astro ECM1 Fuse Blows if key is on
Thanks, I figured it out, took it out and found a little part in the center of the board fried.
I ordered a used one from ebay and put it in today, truck started up but runs rough.
My question is will it get better using it or will I have to have it programed?

Thanks. I figured it out, took it out and found a fried little part right in the center.
I ordered a used one from ebay, got it and installed it and the engine started up but does not run very good.
My question is will this fix itself or will I have to get it reprogramed?

93 Astro ECM1 Fuse Blows if key is on
Been a while since I've been here.
My 93 quit going down the road, had it towed to my house.
Been working on it a few days, found the orange wire going to an aluminium box in the passenger door frame is grounded.
What is that box? Looks difficult to remove, is there any tips on how to get at it?

Re: Speedo and Guages Stopped Working
Thanks for the reply. I didn't really want to go digging into the dash because all the plastic trim is crumbling, but I did and every piece broke, no way to put it back together, but I don't really care as it is just an old work van. I didn't see a big plug on the back, just a flat multiwire strip l...

Speedo and Guages Stopped Working
I have a 99 Safari, all the guages and speedometer stopped working about a month ago. I checked the fuse under the dash marked 'GAUGES' and it was good and there was 12 volts there with the key on. A couple days later they started working and I was happy. A week ago they quit again and have not come...

Hello From The Sunny Fl Keys
Just an old guy here that likes these vans. I started with a 91 that I drove for a couple years then got a 99 with windows that I have had for about eight years and last year I picked up a nice 92 shorty cargo van. Not into changing them much, just want them to run when I turn the key. Wish I would ...
