I have been watching for one of those motors but having been unemployed for a while makes it not even reasonable to consider right now.

I believe there was a thread on the Overland Van site. Possibly the owner before Dan. I will have to see if it it still there.

Thanks. Mine is a 95' Safari and doesn't look exactly like the picture of the 98'. Believe it or not though the number 15704648 is molded into the plastic so it must be the same. When are you getting another Astro/Safari?

Does anyone know the part number and correct part name for the plastic piece that bolts to the crossmember between the radiator bulkhead and the bumper. It holds the power steering cooler also.

Thanks for the input. I am planning a conversion on a Safari. Lifted, Straight axle, 2 spd transfer (man or elec). Due to the extensive fabrication I will be doing I was trying to figure out if I should start with an AWD or just stick with the 2wd 95 Safari I now have.

Has anyone every laid the two subframes side by side and taken pictures for comparison? I would like to be able to do this but I am shopless and workspaceless at the present time. I thought this could be helpful for v-8 conversions as well as 4x4 conversions.

As I remember a lot of the early vans with 4 cyl had manual transmissions. I replaced clutches in a couple of them for a florist who used them for deliveries. I wasn't aware that any of the V-6's had manuals. Probably special order??

Seeing all these pictures really make me appreciate the lack of road salt and other winter moisture in So Cal.
