.......and the winner is.........

Well, since so many of you offered ideas on this, and since due to a family situation or three, it took me so long to finally get it done, I wanna tell y'all that it ended up being a partially blocked heater core. Some back-flushing did the trick.

Thnx.....+oM

Well lesee......bypass seems to work, coolant was added, no difference, hoses to heater core are hot, and still warm air only at higher rpms. So this leaves what, blocked up core?

If heater bypass is in down position when heat is engaged...and up position when not, does this indicate this valve is operating properly?

Crash-how much of the dash has to be taken apart to get at these sliders? On my 95, the rear heat is on a plastic panel that includes moto-mirror and other controls. Not a screw in sight.

.......alright, did a good bit of driving this morning, and quite simply, when the van is in motion, good heat thru vents, defrost, whatever. When waiting at red light or parked in 'park', back to the cool stuff. BTW, previous owner had water pump and thermostat replaced this past summer.

On further review, when van is in motion...as in driving down the road, blows pretty good heat, at least on defrost setting. Set it in park and the temp just starts to drop, until it feels like ambient air temp. WTF?

Yeah Matt I hope it's that simple too! I didn't even touch the truck today. My wife had surgery, and besides, it's fuggin cold out there. An off-my-own-topic note to Justice-either here or on the mother board, I saw your stack of basswise gear. If I ever get caught up on shite and properly camerad, ...

Switch track is fine it's just that when you try to slide it the normal way, you're also pushing in a little and this hangs it up. Yea probably junque time.

Control for rear heat

Van has the horizontal slider switch to activate rear heat. Cannot be moved, but with plastic nob off, I can slide it by grasping metal shaft with needlenose and pulling out away from dash while moving it. Any thoughts?

Had heat.....until I really needed it

I've had this '95 for about a month now, during which there have been some cool mornings. Heater/defrost seemed okay, but now that it's cold, I find that I'm blowing cool air-just slightly warmer than straight vent. Where should I start? +oM

Tried an enclosure/speaker/amp of the type I'll be using. Worked very nicely even though not a true test as the stock speakers were still running full range. But at least I know i can get where I'm trying to go with this setup. My enclosure will have to be slightly narrower in width, but deeper, to ...

Good points Crash. Yeah I was thinking rear-firing, tho I noticed some guys point em at the floor. I'm also hoping to mount the amp in reach so I can easily adjust sub level.

Still not totally sure on the wiring business, but will study up when time permits.

Peace......+oM

Should mention...........head is Sony claiming 4X50 wattage. Sub will be Elemental Design 13Kv.2, boxed up and powered by their Nine.2 amp. I've heard this combo sound very good in car trunks though mine will be between the front seats.

.....and a correction to your correction, TechSys, the use of the high-pass that I referenced was for the stock stuff in the van, not the sub to be added. As I mentioned, I've done MUCH sound system work and have a good understanding of audio signal chains 'n such. Not griping-just that nobody wants...
