Re: Complete change of rake fluid (2005 AWD Astro)

Checked the master cylinder, the fluid is appx 1/8" above the bottom in the front area. I also backed up the nut on the parking brake to see it that had any effect and found none at all. I am at a standstill here, I do not want to drive the vehicle with the rear brakes "applied" by so...

Re: Complete change of rake fluid (2005 AWD Astro)

Well, I finally got around to making the swap of all four wheels brake disc's but now my problem is that I have constant pressure being applied to the rear brake. I got the calipers back into their nest but when I released the c clamp they wanted to push out so getting them on was a bit frustrating ...

Hey guys, thanks for the tip about the slider and the "Heads Up" about the pressure bleaders.

Re: Complete change of rake fluid (2005 AWD Astro)

I haven't done anything on it today. I hope it will be warmer tomorrow and I am going to take the rear wheels off and play with the adjustment. There is a 12mm hex head bolt going into the caliper hole AND there is a small bushing like tube that also has threads inside of it. It took me a while to f...

Re: Complete change of rake fluid (2005 AWD Astro)

Thank You Stan! I've done a lot of surfing and found a Harbor freight model for $25. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and if they do not have one, I may build one. There are a lot of posts and video's of home made ones. My problem is I need it fast. I replaced the rear disc's on my 05 Astro AWD and ...

Complete change of rake fluid (2005 AWD Astro)

I have never fully replace all the brake fluid in a vehicle. My Astro has 70K miles and inside the fluid container it looks like "zillions" of micro-micro something! What is the best procedure to do a full flush. I replaced the rear disc pads yesterday and that's when I saw inside the brak...

Need drawing for 1987 Astro steering column

A friend disassembled the steering column in my 1987 Astro to tighten the knuckle bolts. He wasn't paying attention and now we have a lot of "Extra" parts. Can anyone get me an exploded diagram for this assembly? Thanks ](*,)

Re: removing hinge pins..rear doors 2003 astro

I purchased a special tool from Eastman a few years ago that is supposed to be for removing door pins but it is for the front doors only. The rear door hinges are too large for the tool to work on them. I've got a $38 tool (plus shipping) that never got used.

Re: removing hinge pins..rear doors 2003 astro

A friend of mine used an air chisel and put in a pointed steel rod. He placed it under the bottom pin and it came out withinn 10 seconds. I had bet him that he couldn't do it because I had already tried and failed. )maybe I loosened them up for him huh?) =D>

Re: Astro motorhomes also partial frame unibody?

I thought I'd drop in to give some info on this subject. I have owned two of the Tiger motorhome versions. The Astro Unit ( XL model) and the truck version (the CX) There was an earlier version called the GT which was on the Astro chassis but it had a pop top. Both of the "camper" units ar...

Re: how many members with 80's Vans still on the road?

1987 Shorty Cargo . I ordered it new and around 1991 I had two small windows put on each side and have regretted it ever since. I had the engine rebuilt near 90,000 miles due to someone letting the oil out of the engine (as was also done to a JD lawn and garden tractor of mine at the same time). I ...
