Re: rear end swap
I took the whole mess out at once from a 95 with steel springs, the front hangers, and rear shackles too. and then put it all back into an 87 that had composite springs originally. No prob, any year, as long as you take the hangers too, for conversion from fiberglass to steel.. image1.jpg image2-1.j...

Re: 1st Gen Power Steering Bracket - Help with Replacement
Hi. My 87 has a steel horseshoe kinda shaped bracket for all of the accessories. Just Like the Delco 14102081. Those steel ones are known to crack, ESPECIALLY, if the 2 support bars supporting it from the back side are missing. One is behind the alternator doing down to the intake manifold by the TB...

Re: rear end swap
they used those composite 3.0" springs up to mid 95. then they switched to narrower 2.5" steel springs. what r u wanting to swap out, the springs, or the axle, or both? If you can, pull the axle and springs and hangers out of any other astrosafari as 1 complete assembly, it will bolt right...

Its pretty common for people to use incorrect terminology.
He must mean something else, like maybe the 'OTHER' idler arm, or the drag link?
here is what moog makes for your van.

Re: Back wheels are spinning but front wheels aren't
Man, I sure love my old school system.
Pull the cable to physically lock the gear so the front axle is engaged.
Shift the transfer case into 4wd Hi, Lo or 2wd with 1 Lever.
No relays, actuators, encoders, de-encoders, modulators, ecu's thingamabobs or whatchamacallits.
lol.

Re: AWD swap for Astro-based RV?
I pulled the subframe complete with eng/trans/diff etc out of a 95 VinW Awd. I rolled that whole assembly under my factory 5 speed 2wd 87 vinZ van. I reused the vinZ tbi and intake onto the 95 VinW engine. I put a 5speed in place of the 95 automatic trans. Easy peasy. I took it wheelin today ;) the ...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Installed a new exhaust system this week, finished it off today. I Did it myself. After the cat, I put a 2.5" Cherry bomb and then a 2.5" Dynomax SS muffler. Then a prefabbed Walker Tailpipe bent to fit the Astro. Looks awesome & Sounds even better. Kinda hush, until you get on it then...

Re: Looking for a new van.
I am leaning towards a savana / express AWD myself. Ditto, but ones with a slider are rare as hens teeth. BTW, they are discontinued as of this year. Econolines already discontinued last year. It's the end of an era folks. Ya, I like those too. Funny though, I was thinking I would like those barn d...
