I also swapped over to Hydro-Boost from a `93 when I did my 11inch rear drum upgrade on my `86.

There is a SSBC Front kit for the 96 and newer vans and rear disc conversion kit

Re: Cheap Big Brakes
Stopped in at AdvanceAuto and compared the stock 2WD Astro rotor to the 91 C-1500 2WD, the Astro rotor is about 1/2" large in diameter. No cheap upgrade there, but now I'm wondering about the Impala rotors. I mean those did come with 17" wheels, so maybe they have larger brakes.

Re: Cheap Big Brakes
Keep in mind that the 2WD Astro rotor has the gear teeth machined into them for the ABS sensor (at least the 92 Astro does).ihatemybike wrote:Stopped in at AdvanceAuto and compared the stock 2WD Astro rotor to the 91 C-1500 2WD, the Astro rotor is about 1/2" large in diameter. Yeah, I'm definitely watching for ABS exciter rings.

Re: Cheap Big Brakes
I have a 92 3/4 2wd p/up sitting for parts will the calibers mount right up on a 99 2wd astro? Where is the 11in drums coming from the 3/4 also? can I also use those off the same truck w/o complications? Thanks for your help..sounds like a good upgrade..

Re: Cheap Big Brakes
I don't know about the pickup brakes. The brakes that are a direct bolt on come from GM's fullsize cars such as Caprice & Buick Roadmaster. Everything from the backing plate and all of the brake hardware will work. Check the pickup brakes. You might be on to something. ![Dancing \:D/](./images/smilies/eusa_dance.gif)
