91 digital dash to analog dash.. is it plug-n-play?

Just like it says... just got a 91 awd safari but the speedo stays at 0 all the time.

Could be the VSS or could be the dash but i'm curious if anyone has ever swapped a normal dash where the digital was?

I'd think it'd be easier to swap backwards, but I'm told that they're both different wiring harnesses.
