Who here rides Bikes? What kind? How do you transport them if you do with your van? Pictures please.

I have a couple of hybrids and a K2 Mountain bike.
I usually toss the bike in the back, unless I have several bikes, and buddies going along for weekend trip.

This is the new van, it is a trailer hitch mounted rack from Thule

This is the old van, it is a rack from Road Gear

Why it's not recommended, tho it did work pretty well

Giant Yukon SE here. Not a high-tech machine, but it fits me GREAT. It needs a tune BADLY and from the looks of my GUT, I need to get back on it!

I either haul it in the back of my truck or on a receiver mount off the back (van or truck).

I mostly ride BMX/MTB skatepark/street/urban/dirt jump, just love jumps and stunts. I also commute to work (18 miles each way) when it's nice out. Been trying a 135 loop around Chicagoland, but I keep bonking. Must be the lack of training.

I usually carry a couple bikes behind the third row. I put them in upside down, MTBs get the front wheel removed, BMXs fit without any mods. Usually two bikes fit this way, if I selectively remove pedals I can fit three, this is with the seat in it's furthest back position.

When I load up the guys for road trips, I'll put three behind the third row, five on the Saris hitch rack that was designed for four bikes, and if needed additional bikes strapped to the roof rack with the front wheels and left side pedal removed to get them as flat on the van as possible. Biggest road trip load so far has been eight adults, 10 bikes, everyones clothing/gear for two days, and several cases of beer. I was definitely wishing I had Timbrens installed.

Here's a pic I took after I upgraded Green to a Class III hitch. That's my Standard Bykes 250 on the rack.

I don't currently have my Bikes at school that is why I didn't post them but I have a Trek 6500 and a motobecane SS(single speed) The most I have had in van is 4 along with 3 people hockey gear and tons of luggage. I am curious how many would fit. I saw a pic on my bike forum with a pick up with 8 in the bed.

As soon as I install a hitch, I plan on using this carrier. I figure my bikes are all about $3000 a piece, the vans worth $10,000, so I want to protect both. This carrier doesn't touch the vehicle and only touches the bike tires.

I seem to split time between my '05 Dawg primo and my '06 Stinky Deluxe. I still have my Pahoehoe hardtail, and occasionally get out on my Felt 65 road bike. Fiancee has a King Kikapu and a Trek 5200 all carbon road bike.
Used an old futon frame for the garage bike rack.

Most I've had inside so far is eight and they all fit behind the second row with the third row removed.

Yeah, he's a Centerman. Great kid. Talented, strong on the puck, takes a lot of key draws towards the end of the game. #83. His dad, Garth Butcher, was an NHL Dman for 14 seasons.

I toured North America in an $1800 Honda Accord Hatchback with $5000 worth of kayaks and mountain bikes on top, its about priorities, right?!!.

Next on my list in a hitch so I can carry bikes in the receiver carrier.

Ha, glad ya liked it. I too really like the photograph. It's part of a professional photographer's portfolio who's name escapes me at the moment. I just thought this thread called for it. To me, its a photo of that moment when one first discover's the thrill of adventure riding. Metaphorically speaking, yes it was me as a kid, as well as most of us here, i would suspect.

i calculated up the prices for all my parts, using the net, and it came to over 1300. if i were to sell it i could get maybe 400. haha.
id rather ride my bike than sell it any ways.

wow, that brings back memories. I raced BMX until I was almost 18. I had the number 14 plate in my district (cruiser class) and the next year I was leading in points and the sanctioning body (ABA) pulled out of Texas making my points worthless...

I had a SE PK Ripper with Redline forks, Proneck clamp and FMF bars. Later I had a Diamondback Pro, a Mongoose Pro-Class and a Schwinn Predator 24" cruiser. I always wanted a SE Quadangle but never got around to getting one.

I have a Panasonic MTB now that I never ride, preferring to do my 2 wheeling on my vintage Yamaha...lol
