Have a MFI upgrade on 2001 Safari question..

Post by HeresPaco »

Hi VanFans,

Just a quick question for those who have done a MFI injector replacement/upgrade.

Do I really need a different meter hold down bracket or will the 2001's original bracket work with the new mfi?

Upgrading my injection and won't get the bracket with it if it's not needed.
Thanks much.

From what I remember, The brackets are not the same. If GM could save a nickel on warranty repairs by not requiring a new bracket for the spider they would have. I had the CPI spider on my 96 with 217k never had a problem. Buy good gas, change fuel filter every 20k, can of Sea Foam every 6k.

My 97 already had the MFI system so I used it in the engine swap.

Custom Lift: 3" body spacers, torsion keys,
4" leaf spring relocation mounts (by ME),
added a leaf spring from a 94 S10 blazer.
All this gives me 5-6 inches of lift.

You definately need the new bracket. I already tried using the old one and it wouldnt fit :)
