AWD V8 swap question

Post by Gordon »

Ok so i have a 91 astro AWD... I found mounts.... I can make the oilpan.

Question is...

i wanna use a 1991 Caprice engine in the van but the cars motor has an extra sensor that the van does not intake air temp sensor in the air cleaner box.

The van doesn't have the 2 wire hookup to run it either so i'm trying to figure out if i really need that sensor even or if i have to swap out the under hood harness and the interior harness to make it work or just use a truck computer instead of the cars.

You should be able to use all the V6 sensors, just use the Eprom and cal pak from the caprice. Your doing the exact swap I did. The only thing I did was move the knock sensor to the right side. You can use a standard truck ECM too. I have several if you need one, I've have a burner and tuning software.

good luck with the swap.

Same engine I used. I bought a plug for the oil pan sensor hole. Not an issue since you will be making your own oil pan. Everything else came from the V6 minus the injectors. Just popped the V8 injectors in the V6 TBI.
