Hey from Orlando. Welcome to the best Astro/Safari site on the web. You'll enjoy this one. Lots of great folks. All willing to help. Let's see some pics of your van.
Thanks all.
Rebel,
Your signature sounds like one we used in Viet Nam working on Marine Corps Helicopters. "We have done so much, so long with so little, we now can do ANYTHING with nothing at all"!!
USMC 1966-70
RVN 1967-68
Think it was used by several groups in the military back in the day.
US Navy Seabees 1967-71
1966-67 Military Sea Transport Service(MSTS), Civilian, Cam Rahn Bay
Joe,,had one of the greatest things happen to me last year. An old friend of mine who was in MCB-71 with me in 1970, now teaches school on Lubbock, Tx. added my name to their senior class program honoring all veterans from Lubbock. I was added to the list and senior class sent the program and certificate with my name on it. I didn't relize until then, it was the first time anyone had said thank you. Wasn't looking for it but was really nice to hear.
I'll take this time to thank you for your time in the RVN.

If you drive illegally, they take your driver's license. If you're here illegally, they want to give you one
Thanks again! You folks are very nice and I appreciate the warm welcome!
Rebel,
Thanks for your service as well, sir! The returning veterans now are welcomed far better than we ever were and it's about time! I try to offer a handshake and a thanks every chance I get! Never fails to elicit a smile from them!!
Never got as far south as you were, we stayed in the northern end of "I" Corps between DaNang and the DMZ, usually..In the middle of TET 1968..the time NOT to be there...LOL! Glad to be back home even if it is 40 years later, this year!
MCB-6 was to go to DaNang in 68 and again in late 69 but orders were changed both times a few days before leaving Rhode Island. Sorry I missed TET.
Take care Joe and again, welcome to ASV's

SEMPER FI, Joe. I was in the Corp also. 61-65. You and Larry (Rebel) make me feel old. I was out before Nam got going. Can't I'm sorry about that. You guys are lucky to get out of that alive. On a cheerier note, lets hear about your van.
PLEASE don't apologize for that! You served four full years...they didn't ask you to go or, like the rest of us, you'd have been there, too!! We did had advisors and helicopters there since 1962, so you were there when it went on. Know LOTS of Marines there in '64-'65! Just wasn't your time! You were there, they just asked others to go! Thanks for YOUR service!
You're reasonably close to me, maybe one day we'll get together and talk about it!
Semper Fidelis,
I never saw active duty, but I shot a pellet gun once
Welcome to the site, and I have the utmost of respect for anyone sent off to fight in a foreign land. Not necessarily because I am or am not war crazy. Simply because of the courage and sacrifice so many have made. Just so's I can live in a country where I can choose to do what I want, when I want.
Hey Wagonmaster! Welcome to the site. Retired Coastie here ('79-'02). My primary AOR was the Caribbean during the intense drug runner days. The dope is still getting in but just not as much through the Caribbean. Mostly over the MX border nowadays thanks to NAFTA...
Anyhow...Welcome aboard!
Semper Paratus!
