Off roading

Post by Water Boy »

I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

1990 Astro (Z motor) mostly original @ 343,584 miles (552,944.8488960001 Canadian) (03/2008). Bad startup puff. Starting to spray for skeeters. Gone 06/07/08.
1993 Astro with a bad W motor. Parked next to a chicken coop in Talking Rock GA
I'm 'tween Canton and Holly Springs (North NorthWest of Atlanta GA)
I haul bottled water everyday- between 500 and 2500 pounds (226.796185 and 1,133.980925 Canadian) INSIDE the van.

Wow, that's pretty insane. I once rode in the back of one of those types of vehicles in the first video. It is called a YAZ (except the Y makes an "oo" sound in Russian). Handled really well in the Russian Winter!

I can't believe that red (Isuzu I think) 4x4 going under in the second video. I would start to cry if it was mine.

I remember, on Saturday tv, there were those mud hole type races. A "track" dug deep in some sort of round layout like a circle track with asphalt. Then flooded with water. The "contest" was to go around the track so many times in the shortest amount of time. A lot of Jeeps and other 4-wheel drive, of the day, were modified. Some were engineered to actually travel along the bottom of the track with just the engine air intake and the driver's head above the water. As the vehicles evolved, some put skis on the front and large flotation tires in the rear and kinda just skimmed around on the surface like a bug.

So ... anyone know what the actual name of that event was?
