Monte Carlo SS

Post by superglide57 »

My 67 year old aunt has an all original 1986 Monte Carlo SS she bought new. Oil changed every 2500 miles since new. The car has about 140k on it. Only back and forth to work at Lockheed for 20 years. Always garaged, and near mint condition. Runs, looks and drives like new!!! She bought a new SS in 05, and was going to just save this one, but she has decided to divorce my uncle, so she needs to sell the 86. It has currant tags and inspection on it. It has never failed to pass emission testing. My question is... What should she be able to get for this car? Thanks,Tony

I would offer my soul if I hadn't sold it years ago for a date with a hot chick with questionable morals. :muhaha:

Try looking up on some car forums I am sure that there has to be a monte carlo board out there.

I've been following a few of them... looked at a few of them... and it's all dependant on condition. (underneath) trunk and rear frame rails ... and rockers.

I've seen them sell from $1500 on the low drivable side - $7500 for near show quality. not usually much more. problem with these cars is they were slow and plastic looking. only sporting a 305. personally, i didn't mind the styling, my wife loves them but, many found it near offensive looking replacing chrome steel bumpers with plastic ... LOL ... it's not a 87 Grand National, or 83-84 hurst olds ... it's also not an SS aerocoupe, which again would add to value.... but, it's also not a total bucket by the sounds of it.

obviously, as with everything, it's worth more to the right buyer.

I would love to have that car, I just missed out on an 85 SS with only 29k miles on it, just needed a motor. In excellent condition, expect maybe 2500-3000 for it. They are getting collectable, but still not to the expensive status. With the mileage, she might get lucky to get 2000 out of it. Take a look see on .... http://www.montecarloss.com excellent sight for info, but I think you may have to sign up to see the forums.

I'll give a 1000 O:) :yawinkle:

You can also check over at maliburacing.com. They have a large Monte Carlo contingent over there.
