Coolant temp sensor and switch whats the difference????

Post by astrogus »

I changed my coolant temp sensor and i see online there is also a coolant temp switch they look similar whats the difference??......I was told that the coolant switch can cause rough idle is this true??.....Also i was wondering where its located on a 97 astro...I think this is why my temp gauge isn't surpassing 150....Thanks to all....astrogus

the one i posted a pic of (that you asked for in your other thread, driver side, back of head), only sends a signal to the gauge for a temp reading on your gauge cluster, that's it. the other one that doesn't feed the gauge feeds the pcm. it will effect enriching or leaning out the fuel delivered based on temp, it has nothing to do with the reading on the gauge.... other than you hope that if both are fully functional they are taking the same temp readings... lol
