I had already swapped my astro with a 355 crate motor before I knew about this site. Wish I had looked for you guys earlier. Anyways, here's some pics and stats:
-350 GM performance crate motor bored to 355
-edelbrock performer carb and intake
-holley electric fuel pump
-3rd gen f-body serpentine setup, radiator, relays and dual cooling fans
-march underdrive pulley set
-hedman headers with 3" exhaust

Re: New to the boards...
Other than whats listed, its a stock gm performance engine. That engine with stock exhaust is rated at 290hp and 326 ft/lbs of torque, so with those mods, it should be peppy. There is a 1" carb spacer on it. I really wanted to put a hydraulic roller cam in it, but I don't have the money for it now. That will have to wait to spring. Hopefully, I'll get the posi in it by next week so I can get it down to the track before winter.GEJ wrote:Yes-that is a nice looking van.Other than the over bore, carb, intake, headers, did you do a anything else to the engine??.Welcome to the site.

Nicely done. One thing, as a flow bench operator for over 20 years, I'd like to see you get the biggest air filter you can make fit on your engine., even if you have to give up the 1" spacer. The spacer is normaly a good thing so keep it if you can but it's amazing how much air flow a motorcycle sized filter restricts an automotive engine.

Ah, yes! A V8 nestled in the engine bay of an Astro is truly a thing of beauty!

Re: New to the boards...
I could not agree more. The only reason I used that little air filter is because it was lying around. It will be changed. I want to install some type of cold air intake on it. But that will have to wait for another day.HPbyStan wrote:Nicely done. Re: New to the boards...
I am keeping the compression low because of the power adder I will be putting on it next year.GEJ wrote:Nothing Larry.I was just asking if he did high compression pistons, heads,or cam.Very nice van.Rebel wrote:Welcome and nice looking van. Looks great.

Welcome and well done. I would recommend an Auburn posi and 3.73's for your rear gears, 4.10's are also an option.
