power lock mechanism on drivers door doesn't work

Post by pengyou »

Wow! Sorry for throwing all my broken toys at you folks but my budget says "DIY". The level on the drivers door that should lock and unlock all three doors does not work. It will unlock everything but it will not lock. Any idea of what is wrong? Which part needs to be replaced?

Check the wires going through the door jamb.

if the wiring looks ok, it might be the switch itself.
If you can't find a local source other than a dealership, http://www.rockauto.com probably has it. They had all the switches for my old '89.
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.
