Well, I would say the next step is to service your AWD. :D

More seriously, I have no idea what can cause this as I have RWD, but I'm sure someone can tell you something.

There are lots of possible issues from a servo motor to sensor issues. Has any work been done to the transmission, transfer case or driveshafts lately? Either way I would pull the "ATC" fuse under the hood and then get underneath and check all connections for moisture, corrosion or looseness. After that, put the fuse back in and see if the light goes out. If it doesn't, it will be time for a code reader to scan the code. I think this needs to be done at the dealer or a shop though.
Current rides:

2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4
2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8S Special Edition

Tranny work done 75,000 miles ago. The front has never been serviced in the entire 270k. I pulled the ATC fuse & the light went out. Runs fine in rwd only, but Snow is likely this winter, so I want my awd back.

I'll have my fav' wrench hook it up to get the codes.

Thanks,
