my top door is stuck

Post by CDGsafari98 »

I have a 98 safari AWD with the dutch doors. When I push the button to open only the passenger side releases, thus my door will not open. Has this happened to anyone before. Is there a fix for this? I would appreciate any help at all on this.

Mine was stuck today, I think it was just frozen, its been in the 20's here for a few days. The 2 lower doors were also stuck and I could hear ice crackeling as I forced the open.

I don't know if you can remove the inner panel on the top door to get to the mechanism. If you can you could pull the rod to release it and lube it well. Another option is to push in on that side while somebody pushes the release button. Maybe it would pop open.

Tried the push from inside option, and from the looks of it i cant access the trim screws while the door is closed. I was hoping for something before I try to break it!

The inside handle on the liftgate should be able to be removed without opening the door. When that happens, you should have access to a panel that is removed to have access to the pushrods. If only one side is unlatching, then the other end may have lost its clip.
