B2 Stealth Bomber circling Los Angeles....?

Post by SoCalli V8 »

Today on a very cloudy Sunday afternoon at 1pm untill 2.15pm there was a B2 Stealth bomber aircraft circling (approx 100 miles diameter) Los Angeles at very low altitude, and it was Friggin` Awesome!

I and my neighbours watched in amazement as this craft flew over our heads 9 times, and it had a distinct quiet jet sound.

I live 2 miles from a local small airport (El Monte) and 30 miles from Los Angeles International, plus I have a gf who is an air hostess, so I watch planes in the sky all of the time. But while this thing was circling, there was no other air traffic at all, which was very strange, and abnormally quiet......

I grabbed my camera and snapped off some pics, because thing was flying soo low, I think that it was just the mechanic taking it out for a test drive, after fixin` it and showin` off...... What do you think?

My camera was zoomed into the max, that is why the picture quality is crappy.... Because I was in a rush....

Hmmm.. I don't get it.. Why's it called "Stealth" if you can see it with the naked eye? Not too Stealthy if you ask me! :muhaha: :D

But seriously, there wasn't an airshow somewhere nearby? Seems like that would be the obvious reason for it to be flying low and circling around like that.

But then I don't know a darn thing about aircraft, so that's just a wild guess on my part.

Edit..
Wait.. here's why it was flying low..

Imagine, if you will, being a civilian in a war-torn country and watching this huge bomber circling over your head. I'd dump in my Depends! :yikes:

WOW! That's really cool, doesn't even seem real. I watched X-men and The Silver Surfer last night and it's more akin to being in a movie. Thanks for sharing.

Cool pics! Where I used to live we were under a flight path for KC-135s. I looked up on several occasions to see B-2s pulling up to refuel!

Hard to mistake that plane for anything else in the sky!
