My 92 Astro factory oil plug does not have a conventional gasket. I appears that there is a built in o-ring near the head that prevents oil from dripping.

mine has a white plastic washer type gasket, however I bottom out so much that it has been ground down quite a bit over the years it is now split in half, the plug itself is also quite ground down, but I never have issues with leaking. I cant imagine adding one would exactly be a bad idea, but if it aint broke why fix it?
